I couldn't get through the first Mummy book on account of the racism (a first for me, and we're talking about Anne Rice here!), so I will happily read your posts about it, but personally pass.
A completely reasonable and understandable reaction to huge swathes of Anne Rice writing! (If you have never read The Feast of All Saints, DO NOT. Trust me on this.)

I am very tired and know nothing of the series but I’ll be damned if Space Birbs doesn’t mean angels and if it was not the intended meaning I will be taking the term and using it instead of angels from now on. Thank you.
Angels would have been SO MUCH BETTER than the actual SPACE BIRBS. It still would have been nutty and cracky, but better than ANGRY SPACE BIRBS.
