We could be doing cool shit on the moon,
Instead we're too focused on if trans people deserve respect. Clown timeline.
Get trans people to the moon asap so we can create a trans-spatial commune

Thought of the day: a fully-deployed orbital ring system could provide free personal transportation with marginal increases to costs for power/transportation for commercial customers (which would still be orders of magnitude lower than current systems).
Keeping all else equal, residential power delivery worldwide could be made free by a ~1/3 increase to commercial/industrial power costs. With the aggressive repayment schedule I argue for in my book, giving free electricity to every person on earth would mean that industry would pay 2.27 cents per kWh, rather than the 10-40 cents they're paying today.
All of this to provide free, 100% clean power and rapid transportation to every single person on Earth.
(Of course, this isn't even considering the deployment of even cheaper solar collection systems that will drop it down to ... Basically the cost of ground infrastructure.)

Granted that I haven't finished Ancillary Mercy so I don't have all of the information possible, but I posit a way to make ships happy and y'know, resist enslaving (actually, murdering) people by making them into ancillaries.
Seize Anaander's fuckin' means of production and churn out clones. They'd probably be the best damn ancillaries because if they grew organically around the implants they'd have the same continuity and lack of panic/terror/pain that the Lord of the Radch enjoys. That ancillaries have to suffer with each new segment.
