Hey! So this is probably going to get zero traction, but I’ve been writing a sci-fi dark romance novel for literal YEARS and I’m finally happy enough with what I have so far to put it up for the public.

It isn’t finished yet, but if you see this and you are into those genres, or even if you just like to read, it would mean more than the world to me if you could check it out!

Full transparency: it did start off as a Kylo Ren fanfiction (😭) so like iykyk kind of thing. And the influence is heavy if not totally on the nose.

Finally got around to rewriting the pilot script and updating the pitch bible for Space Pilots!!

I started this project as a short for a uni assignment and developed it as part of my screenwriting masters into an animated series.

One of the great privileges of living on DS9 is talking to the pilots who stop here.

I’ve never met a pilot that didn’t have some crazy story about a hole in spacetime or the strangest thing they’ve ever had to dodge or the time an alien graciously let them sleep in the highest nest or the hottest cave. Pilots usually have a nice laugh, too, whether rich or quiet, musical or scratchy. I think it’s their sheer experience. Pilots gain a willingness to laugh at themselves, and to laugh with the universe, like they’re part of a giant cosmic joke.

Only twice I’ve heard a pilot tell a story without laughing. One was a Vulcan, but he raised his eyebrow, which is basically a laugh for Vulcans. The other had just escaped a Dominion prison camp.

Space Pilots

You know how in Star Wars, there is always the argument of who’s the best pilot? Well, they are all good, but they’ve got nothing on Cooper from Interstellar. I highly recommend that movie if you’ve never seen it. I saw at I-Max, and dude, the feels, the intensity, the chills, EVERYTHING! It is also a very scientifically accurate movie, with some creative licensing for where science could not help.

*Spoilers for those who’ve never seen Interstellar*

*Warning: the beginning of the clip has a bit of a Jump-scare moment. Still scares me whenever I watch it.*

This scene from the movie had me at the edge of my seat, and not a lot of non-action movies do that to me (well some action movies also don’t really hold me on edge either, but anyway). It was a heart-pounding moment, and against all odds, Cooper manages it. Yeah, he had help from Tars and Case, but the Star Wars Space Pilots had their astromechs and other partners, so...

And for those who’ve never seen Interstellar, hopefully this clip will get you to watching the whole film. Like I said before, it is a highly recommended movie.
