they are supposed to be 14 mins but for whatever reason we were on a compressed format

yeah I heard the case review book for 2 days should do the trick. I guess if I don’t have time to do a neuro/MS exam I can at least verbalize that I would have liked to. I did a full neuro on a real patient s/p stroke last month and it probably took 10 minutes by itself.

it’s funny because I know I’m pretty good at this in real life, and I got better by picking up tricks of the trade from residents and attendings. so it’s weird to have to regress and be extra deliberate, which makes the encounter incredibly inefficient.

that’s so weird, I’ve heard of people failing for not washing up. goes to show how much of the test is based on arbitrary human opinion. one of the comments was like “wanted to order a bunch of tests, physical exam not thorough”... dude I can glean a lot more from your history than the physical, and anything I find on the physical I probably still have to verify with imaging or labs. history > *

thanks all! I think I was more pissed about the prospect of having to write up a ridiculous reflection paper in the middle of board prep, especially given the arbitrary cutoffs and nonsensical “tracks” that determine what your remediation is. I mean... the numeric scale is out of five (I think... it doesn’t really say), but the cut-off for one of the categories is a 75% average. which means almost all of my ratings have to be 4 or 5 to skip this process.

I talked to my friends and I think we all decided if the school wanted us to remediate, they could get off their asses and tell us directly.

This message is so sweet. Thank YOU! I feel like I’m constantly humbled and in awe of the people I follow and discover and admire here. There is so much goodness, strength, honesty, triumph, beauty, and support here that it amazes me. There are some days when I feel like despite anything else I may be going through, that we as humans really ARE inherently good because of the things I see here. So, that’s all a long-winded way, I guess, to say that the positivity that I put out is just my attempt to contribute to that community.
