I hate that I have to tape* Quinn’s ears. HATE it. The plan is to breed her to a stud dog with really good ears though, so hopefully it’s just a one-off. (If she solely belonged to me, I would probably put her in a pet home over her ears.... but I’m not the. only decision-maker for her. So here we are.)

I am the sole owner of my two dogs I currently have and will be the sole owner of the hypothetical third and so I’m allowed to make this the hill I die on because I don’t have to listen to what anyone else tells me to do with my own dogs. And when I’m in the market for a doberman again, I’m not touching those ears at all, and if they fly then they fly I literally do not give a shit.

Sadhbh (edited bc I totally screwed up the spelling the first time) is a very pretty Irish name that rhymes with “five”. Also, life is gonna keep throwing you curveballs and you just gotta take ‘em in stride and fix it one step at a time.

If you could send a message to yourself back on the first day of the year, what would it be?

Don’t leave your spare car keys just hanging next to the door? Find a new place to live cause this one is shit? Take more pictures, talk to your family more, make some goddamn friends.

Pariah dogblrs, I need info!!

My cousin has rescued what I’m assuming is a pariah-type dog. Her name is Muri (MOOR-ee) and looks like a cross between @streetdogmillionaires‘s Priya and @spanishmal‘s Talla. She was sold as a “beagle basenji mix” which is a joke. She definitely acts very primitive, aloof, and cat-like. Muri has some behavioral issues, such as some dog reactivity, overstimulation issues (I don’t think she’s only been in an actual human home for a couple of months), and a couple other issues that I’m not entirely sure about. Unfortunately this is her first ever dog, so I want to give her as much info as possible to help her. I wish I had a picture of Muri, but I’ll get one the next time I see her.

So, my request is if you guys would be so kind as to throw all of your info, research, resources, and books at me as well as training methods and tips that have been proven helpful. I’m more than happy to give more info in PM. I wanna help her as much as I can because she’s really stressed but wants to give her a chance. Any and all help would be wonderful!

(disclaimer: my cousin is currently working with two trainers as well as trying to do research, but she’s overwhelmed and doesn’t quite know where to start, thus asking for dogblr help on her behalf)

My multi group winning Whippet only cost $1200. Cant imagine why any rescue/shelter dog should cost more than a dog who literally won a Reserve Best in Show. ��‍♀️

Bingo. Dobes and chis are considered expensive breeds and both of mine were less money than that. From fully health tested and extensively titled parents. From a breeder that devotes their heart and soul to their dogs.

There are varying degrees of hairlessness amongst hairless dog and many have "peach fuzz" that does need to be shaved for the ring. Most people just use a regular human razor to get a totally smooth finish. I wouln't consider it an abnormal practice at all. A little excessive for a pet, because you need to be really on top of exfoliation and ingrown hairs/acne with hairless dogs, but you do you.

What @molosseraptor said. Also, from what I’ve been told, the “peach fuzz” is becoming more common because hairless cresteds with fuzz tend to have much nicer furnishings. So if you want those big furnishings, you can’t have a truly hairless-bodied crested.

Both are good things to know! I haven’t done a lot of research into hairless breeds because I honestly don’t favor most of them and I know that the hairless trait means there’s just as much skin care as what a regular high-groom breed would have on the hair and since I don’t like grooming that’s a massive No Thank You for me.
