I came across a box of sidewalk chalk I got a while back. I was thinking about Spanish moon moths and the concrete was calling to me. Did you know these beauties are threatened of becoming endangered? They’re finding less and less of them in the wild. That’s what I was thinking about while I was drawing this. I’d hate to see such beautiful moths go extinct. Day 10-ish/31 of #firstmothoftheyear is a late-night work in progress of the Spanish Moon Moth wings I've been working on all day! This wing is the upper wing and is still a bit wet in the pic from getting a bath, and open on the right side. They're made in-the-hoop, which means that the wings not only get embroidered, but also stitched together by an embroidery machine. Which doesn't really make it any faster 😅 I have to wait almost 2 hours for one side of the moth to be stitched out.
