oohh thats a difficult one, id have to go with uhh,, Kapsalon (tr: hairdresser) I think. twas invented by a Turkish Dutchman and it consists of shoarma , fries, an ungodly amount of cheese melted over it, ""salad"", more cheese and fries and shoarma, and garlic sauce and hot sauce. get it at any turkish snackbar in the Netherlands, Turkish migrant workers who came here in the (??) 60s?? are truly the backbone of this nation
10. most enjoyable swear word in your native language?
oh no, there's a bit of a problem here, our swears are almost all some form of "I hope you get [horrible deadly disease]" or something with genitals, often a combination. it got bad enough that there's been Many Many national campaigns to urge people to "please dont swear with cancer, the other ones are fine but not this one cause thats much too intense and its really the most dickish thing you could do and we will hate you for it"
but my favourite would be "mierenneuker" (antfucker, someone who's extremely nitpicky and you hate them for it)
16. which stereotype about your country you hate the most and which one you somewhat agree with?
sounds weird but I really dislike the "Dutch people are super tolerant" cause we've been using it as an excuse to just do jack shit to progress further as a country, like yea we were the first to legalise same sex marriage and we're chill about a lot but we also have a ban on burqas in public offices and transit just to be shitty and send a message. there's a lotta stuff that still needs to be fixed *COUGH COUGH* zwarte piet *COUGH COUGH* and our "oh but we're sooooooo tolerant" attitude is only hindering us
on a more fun note, generally true stereotypes are:
- bikes, all the bikes everywhere, if you dont know how to ride a bike a Dutch person will manifest wherever you are staying and forcibly teach you
- penny pinching, we're greedy fucks cause this is a civilised Culturally Calvinist country. Johannes Calvijn and his hatred for opulence is embedded into the DNA of every Dutch person, it's in the "welcome to the Netherlands" kit for immigrants too. "waste not, want not" or rather "wie bewaart die heeft wat" is Very Big
