Illamasqua “Speckled Egg” Nails
It’s always fun to see what Illamasqua comes up with each Season, and this past month, I’ve been very fascinated by their “mottled” nail polishes from the l’Imperfection collection.
I did my own interpretation of it (mine’s more "party-confetti" than "speckled egg"), and didn’t use the same colors or glitter varnish. This is a quick post just to tell you what sort of product you should look for to get a similar effect!
Base: Pick a pastel. If you want to make it look like Illamasqua, go with dusty, slightly “faded”-looking pinks, blues, greens, beiges. I went with a brighter lemony yellow (China Glaze Lemon Fizz) just because I wanted it to stand out a bit more.
Glitter: Look out for varnishes that have a finer glitter AND larger sized round glitters. It should be darker than the initial color you applied. (I used Sephora by OPI’s Spark-tacular.) A black glitter (try L.A. Girl) would give you the most "egg-like" look.
I find just 1 coat of the glitter polish is enough. 2 can make it overwhelming (see my little finger), and you end up noticing the glitter more than you do the mottled design.
Worse comes to worst, if you’re feeling lazy or just want the exact shades, you can always visit Illamasqua here to pick up their limited edition polishes!
