Chronotober Day 20 “Nu” and Day 21 “Spekkio”
OCR04213: Chrono Trigger: Terminal Funk - Deedubs
[Jolly Ol’ Spekkio]
from OverClocked ReMix
Spekkio, at the end of time: Let me ask you something, kid. Where do you think magic comes from?
Marle: The heart?? -big smile-
Spekkio: ….actually. You’re right.
Marle: -BIG SMILEY AND HAPPY GASP-
Spekkio: No, really! -pulls out a diagram- it comes from a sack of magic bile attached to a Mystic’s heart! -points at diagram-
Marle: -BACKS UP- OH, GROSS-! ……..Can I keep that-? -looks back down at him, smiling-
The next morning, Crono woke up just after dawn. He quietly packed his katana, the Gate Key and a few changes of clothes, as well as the cloth badge the knight had given him. Stepping into the hall, Crono quietly made his way down the stairs and glanced down the hall to his mom’s room. He felt bad sneaking off but he knew his mom would understand.
Quietly making his way down the hall to the back door, Crono decided to get some food from the kitchen before departing. As he entered the kitchen, he heard a voice from behind.
“I already packed some things for you and your friends.”
Crono jumped and turned around. His mom was standing by the back door with a smirk on her face and a cloth bag filled with what Crono assumed was food.
“Almost eighteen years old and you think you can sneak off without a goodbye?” she asked. Crono hung his head in shame.
Gina set the bag of food on the kitchen table and approached Crono. Embracing her son, she said, “You’ve always been such courageous person, Crono. From the moment you could walk, you’ve always tried to be the hero, taking any risk of it meant you could help a friend.”
“I won’t stop you or your friends. I just ask that you listen to them and your heart,” she added. “And stop by when you have time.”
Crono smiled softly at his mom. “Was that last part a time travel joke?”
“Where do you think you got your sense of humor?” Gina replied. Giving Crono a kiss on the cheek, she said, “Now take the food and go meet up with Marle.”
“Thanks, Mom. I love you.”
Hugging his mom one more time, Crono grabbed the bag of food and his own supplies and went out the door.
Marle was waiting by the Gate with her crossbow slung over her shoulder and a backpack. She smiled and asked, “Ready, Crono?”
Crono nodded. Marle got out her Gate Key and activated it. The Gate flared open and shone a deep blue in the early morning light. Marle looked to Crono and said, “Let’s get going then.”
The two of them stepped into the Gate and found themselves in the End of Time. A pillar of light stood behind them and another stood on the opposite side of the small plaza.
“Looks like we activated some new pillars,” Marle remarked. “Let’s get going.”
“Hey, I just had a thought,” Crono said. “Maybe we should train some more with Spekkio?”
Marle thought for a moment and said, “That’s a good idea. If we’re going to fight Ozzie, we should practice our magic more and see if Spekkio can help us get better at our weapons.”
After a brief chat with the old man in the main plaza, Crono and Marle went to Spekkio. He greeted them happily and asked them if they were there to practice their magic some more.
“Yeah, we were wondering if we could practice our weapons too,” Crono said. Spekkio chuckled, “Of course! I’m all for any training. I’m the Master of War, after all!”
