Using the pentacles and color of Jupiter (blue/purple), I used Jupiter energy to attract honor, glory and riches. (To attract/reach an audience that supports and respects my passions. “What is meant for me is mine.”)
Mercury:
Using the pentacles and color of Mercury (orange, mixed colors), I used Mercurial energy to open my roads and clear my paths so success, honor & glory can come into my life with ease. Also to make communicating easier (online or in person).
Process:
I worked this on the day of Jupiter (Thursday) in the hours of Mercury and Jupiter— alternately flipping the chalk board depending on the planet I was working with. Under the central burning candles I placed the paper pentacles of Mercury & spoke my intentions over the flame while visualizing the success I desired. I used stones/crystals and herbs connected to Jupiter, success, money, opportunity, mental clarity, focus, practicality and energy.
(I didn’t entirely take it into account but this would be best done during a waxing/full moon. I think I did this during the waning/new moon, focusing on removing obstacles around finances & careers.)
There's a lot of talk in many of the witch communities I'm in about whether or not you need to be completely calm to practice magic. Some say that any stress, anger, sadness, or any "negative" emotion will somehow mess up or even ruin your spells. Others go to the opposite extreme, saying your emotions have no effect on your spells.
I rarely seem to find anyone discussing a middle ground, beyond "anger can make banishing stronger" or other uses of anger. In my opinion, though I know this could change depending on your view of how magic works, emotions can effect your spell work, but they won't necessarily hurt it.
I think the best way to describe it is with an example. Let's say I'm doing a spell to relieve anxiety. I have general anxiety disorder, and am wanting something to supplement my medicine and therapy. When I do the spell, I'm currently stressed about my grades in school. While the point of the spell was to relieve general stress, my concern about school in the back of my mind may cause the spell to focus on school-related stress, while ignoring other potential factors.
This isn't inherently a bad thing, as it's very possible that I wasn't aware how much school was contributing to my stress, and lessening that may lessen my general anxiety symptoms. That said, if that's not what you're wanting, it may be necessary to fine-tune the spell to make sure it lessens your general anxiety, rather than a specific source.
Some ways this could be done(other than getting rid of the anxiety before the spell), off the top of my head:
If your spell involves words in some way(chants, sigils, etc) make sure those words are very specific to your intent. Rather than "I have less anxiety," perhaps using "My anxiety in all aspects are lessened".
Ensure any materials you are using are "programmed" for the intended purpose of the spell. Cleanse all your materials to make sure they haven't taken on any of your anxieties.
Be aware of your emotions. While it may not always be possible to get rid of emotions, naming them and where they come from can make it much easier to keep them from interrupting your spell work. This can be much easier said than done, but during the process of the spell, writing down why you want to do it can help, in my experience.
I hope this helps someone, but always remember to try things for yourself and to consult your own view of magic and the universe instead of taking my word as absolute truth. We are all always learning, and even I may change my opinions on this at some point. Feel free to add your opinions(respectfully)!
I think one of the things I struggle with on this blog is balancing witchcraft posts and political posts, bc this was first and foremost a witchcraft blog, but I feel like I have to use the following I have to spread important information. And I'm trying not to just post correspondence lists as all my witchcraft posts, but there's so little theory discussion that I find, and I don't have the energy to be making well thought out posts enough.
It feels like half the posts in the witchblr community are correspondence lists with no reasoning, aesthetic, or "witch tips" with dubious advice at best. And I'm not doing much to help that because honestly I don't know how.
I don't want to discuss my religious and spiritual ideas because they're very personal to me and exactly one friend who happened to have come to the same conclusion about the universe as me. I don't want to convince people I'm right; I don't know if I'm even allowed to. It feels wrong to tell people my beliefs.
But I have a good idea of how I believe witchcraft works, which is a different topic for me. I know enough to make spells, and I could probably describe it, but I think a lot of people would disagree with me, and knowing the internet, I'm sure it would lead to some controversy, which I don't want to deal with. I know some of my beliefs go against some things a lot of people in the witchcraft community will tell you. Not because they're harmful, but because I believe them with a very strong footnote of I'm Not Sure A Human Could Realistically Do This But It's Technically Possible.
For example, I do think you could, theoretically, move things in the physical realm with magic, but the amount of focus, power, and knowledge you'd need would likely be impossible to reach in a single lifetime. Obviously, a lot of blogs say you can't do that. Do they all actually think it's impossible? I'm not sure. But I feel like just saying I believe it's possible will get me in some trouble.
I'm not sure how to fix this, or if it's something that really needs fixing even. But I wish I had a good community for discussion of magical theory, I guess.
While I may use Marijuana in my craft, others are completely fine to comply with laws set forth by Federal or State statutes. This is personal experience, and the way I use Marijuana to induce a state of relaxation while doing different spells and visualizations to charge sigils, etc. Please read only if you can handle topics of light drugs. Please remember to research strains that you smoke or ingest, and responsibly enjoy your high.

Cannabis, Marijuana, Weed, Ganja and all of the other names often elicit a reaction of “Oh heavens no! I would never smoke with my craft!” Which is totally fine. But for others like me and some other witches who enjoy recreational marijuana use, cannabis can be a great tool in divination or your general craft!
Now. The basics of weed: Cannabis buds may be smoked or can be heated into a lipid (fat) of some sort such as vegetable oil or butter to make a chemical reaction due to THC, the chemical that causes a high to happen. Cannabinoid receptors are concentrated in certain areas of the brain associated with thinking, memory, pleasure, coordination and time perception. THC attaches to these receptors and activates them and affects a person's memory, pleasure, movements, thinking, concentration, coordination, and sensory and time perception. There are two main types of Marijuana that can be mixed: Indica and Sativa. (a third type is a mix of these two, called Hybrid)
Indica tends to be sedative, and gives a body high. This type of marijuana will often be characterized by hunger, sleepiness, slow reaction times, and slow movements. Can be used to treat anxiety, PTSD, muscle pain/spasms, and insomnia.
Sativa is the high that is often portrayed on TV. I don’t prefer this for my craft, because this is the type of weed that will make you laugh before you can finish a sentence. However, it is good for creativity, and uplifting the mood in a hyperactive way, almost.
Marijuana buds are what is smoked or dispersed into a lipid (THC is fat-soluble so it has to be cooked into a fat). A marijuana bud is typically of green color, but certain strains of Cannabis have color variations.
The way I use Cannabis is I will usually smoke a small bit before I begin a spell as to encourage visualization. I personally would like to grow some of my own, because I use cannabis to help with anxiety and PTSD symptoms, but at this point, I have not been able to add cannabis to my current garden, but perhaps will do so at a later time.
Marijuana, which was not made
an illegal drug until the 1930s,
was at one time considered by Witches
to be a potent herb of love magick
(this may be one reason to explain
why 'love-ins' were such a popular pastime
among marijuana smoking hippies in the 1960s!) (Excerpt from an online BOS)
Please use marijuana responsibly. I do not encourage hard drug use, so please avoid other drugs at all cost and like with any herb, ensure that you are okay to use Marijuana. It is not recommended that pregnant women use this plant or people with various other conditions such as schizophrenia or people who have hallucinations. Thank you for reading!
This is a simple text post to explain the method I use to create rose oil!
1 1/2 Part Olive/Jojoba/Almond/Etc Oil
2 Parts Plant Material
Sealable container just big enough for everything
Strainer
In order to make Essential Oil, you’ll likely need a ton of organic material. SO for this recipe, assume we’re making one and a half cups of oil. You’ll need two cups of organic material. In your container, squish all of the plant material down into it, and pour on the oil. Leave this container in a bright place for approximately two weeks. This works almost like making sun tea. Not to mention, if someone asks about your jars, just say it’s a pinterest idea ;)
