Delectably spiced brown sugar cut-out cookies suitable for any occasion. Traditional cut-out cookies are given a cozy twist with a warm blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
Ingredients: 1 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1 cup brown sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon. 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg. 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 3 cups all-purpose flour.
Instructions: Spread the softened butter and brown sugar out in a large bowl. Mix them together until the smooth. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix them in well. Mix the ground cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt into the mixture until they are spread out evenly. Adding the all-purpose flour little by little and mixing each addition in will make the dough come together. Cut the dough in half, then roll each half into a disc and wrap it in plastic wrap. In the fridge for at least one to two hours. Warm the oven up to 350F 175C and put parchment paper on baking sheets. Spread out one disc of dough on a floured surface until it's about 1/4-inch thick. Cut out the shapes you want with cookie cutters, then carefully place them on the baking sheets that have been prepared. Get the extra dough, roll it out again, and keep cutting shapes out of it. After the oven is hot, bake the cookies for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden. Once the cookies are cool enough, move them from the baking sheets to a wire rack to finish cooling. The second disc of dough should be rolled out, cut, and baked again. After the cookies are completely cool, you can use icing to make them look nice or just eat them plain.

These Festive Holiday Spice Cookies are the ideal treat for the holiday season. With warm spices and a hint of molasses, these cookies are sure to please.

Roll each ball in powdered sugar to coat completely, then place them on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Gently flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass or your hand. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the cookies are set and slightly golden around the edges. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, store the festive spice cookies in an airtight container. This morning I made these spice cookies from a recipe that was published in The NY Times. I just finished icing them with a browned butter icing. I tasted one before I put the icing on and they were delicious, though I think I went a little heavy on the ground cloves. #cookies #cookiebaking #nytcooking #nytbaking #spicecookies #holidaybaking #holidaycookies https://www.instagram.com/p/CI8uSi0nzGN/?igshid=k6b485m4abwx
