This Vegan Halloumi Burger with Sticky Chilli Drizzle is a quick and tasty way to make dinner. You can use grilled tofu instead of halloumi cheese, which has a good texture and taste. These sticky chilies give the burger a sweet and spicy kick that makes it even better.
Ingredients: 200g firm tofu, pressed and sliced into 1/2 inch thick rectangles. 2 tbsp olive oil. 4 burger buns, toasted. 1 cup shredded lettuce. 1 large tomato, sliced. 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced. 1/4 cup vegan mayonnaise. 1 tbsp sriracha sauce. 1 tbsp maple syrup. 1 tbsp soy sauce. 1 clove garlic, minced. 1 tsp cornstarch dissolved in 1 tbsp water. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush tofu slices with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Grill tofu for 3-4 minutes per side, until grill marks form. In a small saucepan, combine sriracha sauce, maple syrup, soy sauce, garlic, and cornstarch mixture. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat. Spread vegan mayonnaise on the bottom half of each burger bun. Top with grilled tofu, lettuce, tomato, and red onion slices. Drizzle sticky chilli sauce over the tofu slices. Cover with the top half of the burger bun. Serve immediately and enjoy!
