Pavitr easily had the biggest glow up from comic to movie. The attention to detail was amazing.

Hobie is second, they were going in the right direction with his comic design but they gassed it with his movie design.

Lyla’s form was a really great improvement from the comics! The fur coat, the bob, the heart glasses, ugh so good.

I love Margo’s movie design. I did not like her comic suit(think it was the colors), and the movie was a big improvement with the mask too.

I like the changes they made to Porker’s design. Leaning into the cartoony art style was the correct choice.

Miles having a spray painted suit was genius, I do miss the webbed finger tips tho.

Having Peter B. rock stay at home dad chic was a good decision.

They fixed the one thing I didn’t like about Gwen’s design from the comics, those fucking slippers. Did they get around it with actual shoes? Yes. But still.

I like the direction they went with Jessica’s design. I love the tinted glasses and the chunky motorcycle.

I appreciate that they leaned into the anime/manga art style for Peni but I think I liked her comic design better.

Miguel is still a fucking menace in design and spirit. I don’t know why anyone was surprised. He has been insane in every adaptation.

On the surface Noir’s design is not bad like there is nothing wrong with it but god do I miss the patchwork mask, turtleneck, and black webbing.

Who is actually most likely to die in BTSV?

Yep, yikes I’m going there. Again all theories so I’m open to conversation/opinions on this!

Jessica - She’s not gonna die. There’s no way. Spiderverse is known for breaking boundaries but they aren’t going to kill a pregnant woman.

Miles - Again spiderverse is known for breaking boundaries so killing a protagonist is not outside of their range but I do not think they can kill Miles because of how integral he is to the trilogy and general synergy with comics and video games. Miles is too important of a character outside of this film in a monetary and societal way for them to kill him off in my opinion. He is the character that people associate with ‘Anyone can wear the mask’

Peter B. - The man has a baby. They aren’t gonna kill him. It just isn’t gonna happen. Nor will they kill said baby.

Hobie - They won’t do it. I love him but I don’t think his death would be enough of a catalyst or whatever. Like I just can’t see it. Not to say he isn’t important to the story but with the role he takes on, his death wouldn’t make sense.

Ben Reilly - I’m not even sure he’s currently alive lol. Gwen broke his watch and then tossed him into a random ass dimension. He’s probably fine… He’s fine.

Noir - unlikely. It wouldn’t have the emotional impact a death would need in the next movie. If, for whatever reason, multiple members of the team die then I could see it, but just him? No.(either way bro’s been resurrected multiple times in the comics, he’s fine.)

Ham - ok I could see it, but only in the comedy angel wings ‘death’ way. Like it wouldn’t be real, it’d be a gag.

Peni - ugh I can kinda see this ngl. She was the only member of team B we saw in the society and had a speaking role. Maybe I’m jaded but doesn’t bode well for a young female character… she will most likely be fine though.

Pavitr - People have said it and I do understand it. I don’t think they’ll do it but I could see it happening in a couple of different ways. His death would have be a perfect mid-late movie catalyst simply because of the parallels between him and Miles, ‘being spiderman is easy!’, and inspector Singh and Gayatri ‘escaping’ death. Will be crying in the theatre.

The Spot - I’m 50/50 on this. Like he could totally be too far gone where the only way out is him imploding but also he just wanted attention 😢

Gwen - God I can see this happening. I really hope it doesn’t but,,, Specifically, her saving Miles or one of his parents and that somehow being it for her. Her home storyline is tied up, her only remaining loose thread is with Miles, and once that’s done her ‘arc’ is over, and also the foreshadowing. Like if it happens that’s how it’s gonna happen and it’ll parallel when Miles was saving inspector Singh and that moment where we can’t see him god,,,,,,

Miguel - I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I don’t know what they are going to do with this man by the end of the next movie. Dude has put his whole being into his canon events theory, cause remember he genuinely believes or is in heavy denial about this. I don’t think being visually proven wrong will fix anything for him. I genuinely believe it’ll destroy him. I could definitely see him dying in the next movie by saving Miles/his dad in some desperate attempt to do the right thing, or taking down the spot with him type thing.

Jeff - Look, we all know it’s a possibility. It’s like algorithmically predestined, so it definitely could happen and I wouldn’t be surprised necessarily. But do I actually think it will happen? No. It’s too built up, especially with Miles going to 42 where his dad IS dead.

Rio - I’m gonna be so honest, she’s more likely to die than Jeff. SORRY! She’s the one that dies in the comics, she’s the one alive in 42, and she has that big speech about Miles not being with her any more and to look out for himself for her. I really hope they don’t do it, I really hope cause I will sob in the theatre but if one of Mile’s parents is going to die, it’ll be Rio.

Interactions I wanna see in BTSV:

Hobie and Noir obvi, they are the two spiders who are fighting not just villains of the week but also fascists regimes and a hateful/oppressive world/ideology and are regularly in kill or be killed situations.

Peter B. And Miguel talking about what exactly happened to RIPMiguel’s world.

More about what’s going on with Jessica, she didn’t really get an intro, we don’t even know what world she’s from and who her husband/partner is. I also wanna see what exactly her relationship is with Miguel and what her role is in the society.

Peni and Noir, obvi. Two people who have been through horrific things since the last time they saw each other.

Margo and Peni, two tech baddies that were thrust into high stakes situations too young.

Hobie and Rio/Jeff, it’d b rlly funny. Ik a lot of people want them to hit it off but b real. They didn’t even like Ganke at first. They think Gwen is emo. They aren’t ready for Hobie, that’s not even getting into the cop thing.

I want Gwen and Peter B. (And Peni) to apologize Separately to Miles.(one’s an adult one’s a kid what they did isn’t comparable) and let Miles say his Peace(he doesn’t have to forgive them).

In the same vein I want Pav to confront Hobie and Gwen and be like ‘did you know Gayatri and her dad were supposed to die?’

Gwen should also talk more about what being the only Gwen that lived is like(I hope we get more Gwens)

I want Gwen to tell Miles(at the right time)about what she’s been going through, cause he doesn’t even know she was technically homeless.

I want them all to meet Miles 42 and for him to join the fight and for them to help him out afterwards.

Pav, Peni, and Porker I think would make a hilarious trio

Lego Spiderman, Miguel, and Porker. It would b so funny pls.

Pavitr and Noir are both technically supernatural little creatures. I think this should be discussed.

Spider Freaks

Alright, we got a lot of spiders in the spiderverse movie, most with the same powers, with slight variations. Spideysense, super strength, enhanced healing, increased mobility, and being able to stick to surfaces are the baseline. But there are a couple that really stick out, so let’s outline physiological deviations from the blue print spider powers. Because of how long this post got I split it up into multiple with the links below by character!

Spider Freaks no.3

Miguel O’Hara:

First things first: Dude’s a freak in every way.

Now, Miguel became a spider because after getting hooked on rapture, a drug with a permanent addiction, by his employer(who I think we found out later was his father??) to keep him working for the company, Miguel tried to reprogram his DNA to get himself off rapture. Instead he spliced his DNA with edited spider DNA.

He gains a sensitivity to light, allowing him to see in the dark while also turning his eyes red. Unlike most spider peoples, Miguel cannot stick to walls. Instead he’s got little claws on his finger and toe pads that are very sharp(they’re made out of hardened hairs).

Miguel also is one of the few, if not the only, spider that doesn’t have a spideysense. Instead he has increased reflexes, insane durability, and speed. This is also why in the movie Miguel didn’t sense the vulture, or that Miles was about to electrocute him. In fact, on earth 928 he can move so fast, for short periods of time, he can leave behind a temporary ‘double’. He also gets by with no spider sense by having very inhanced healing to the point that he ages slower. Also on earth 928 he has been shown to have some type of telepathy ability, but it’s not really explored.

And for everyone’s favorite part, yes he has fangs. They store a venom that can knockout an enemy or kill them, at Miguel’s choosing. But they are also non-retractable, so he has to mumble in public trying to hide them. He also does have organic webbing from spinnerets on the back of his wrists. His suit allows him to glide for long distances, it’s not a biological function like Jessica Drew.

It is important to note there are multiple different versions of Miguel from different worlds. To the best of my understanding the above information is pretty consistent for all his versions. In the movie we seem him use red projected beams instead of webs, so I wonder what else they’ve changed about his original design.

EXACTLY. Like we saw those cameras Gwen set up for the spot. Bro has the technology for 360 video capture. Cause that image in my last reblog/post has Miles and Gwen talking in 1610, Mile’s universe.

For all we know those watches aren’t just tracking them, they are also watching them. And all of them are vulnerable to it. Hobie is from the 70s the idea of a device watching him 24/7 might cross his mind eventually but it isn’t ingrained like it is for most 21st century people walking around with an iPhone. Gwen cannot take hers off, she can’t go home. Pavitr is still naive about the whole thing. And Peni/Margo have bought into this whole society to a certain extent, because they’ve essentially been brainwashed.

It’s totally understandable to have security for the HQ, and to have some form of tracking and security on the watches. That is actually responsible! With that said it is super weird creepy and a plain abuse of power for what is essentially the CEO to be watching the security to watch certain people and then rewatching it and saving clips to watch again. Especially when it’s supposed to be in private areas. ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS CHILDREN.

Like I just found this out and I don’t have the band width right now to fully express how upset this makes me and what this means for Miguel as a character. There is so much to talk about and I feel like I could make multiple posts talking about it. It is very concerning and adds layers to how dark a character Miguel could potentially be in the next movie. And remember, this man took a dead man’s family. A family he NEVER had to begin with. Part of me wants to wait for BTSV before I say anything, cause there is so much we don’t know but I only see bad things.

Ok after seeing ATSV again, was Peter B. There for Miguel’s disruption of the canon?? In the flash back we see a Peter Parker as that universe’s Spider-Man. So we know Miguel most likely hung up the suit for a bit. But Miguel says smth along the lines of ‘right Peter?’ or ‘you remember it peter’ like smth to that effect. So now I need to know what exactly happened. How did Peter B. Know Miguel during this time period? I don’t think this was Peter B.’s universe? Was Peter B. The first person Miguel brought on? Was that before RIPMiguel’s universe collapsed?
