Planet Heist
In Green Lantern (v2) 167 (cover date August, 1983) the space pirates the Free Lancers (Chance, Harrow, and Risque) and the Guardian of the Universe Meadlux first appeared (created by Joey Cavalieri and George Tuska). The Free Lancers revealed that the Guardians of the Universe had actually created Oan Power Rings that lacked the weakness to yellow. In the back up story, Brin, Spider Guild, and Teacher were introduced, created by Todd Klein and Dave Gibbons. ("Ring Against Ring", "Successor" Green Lantern v2 167, Comic, Event)

REVIEW
Another case of the back-up feature being better than the main one. Brief Lives. I read this story a long time ago, but it was inserted into another comic-book, translated into Spanish. I cannot remember the issue at this moment. It’s a very clever story about how two giants perceive time, and them not being able to know they were conquered for a second.
The main feature confused the hell out of me. It doesn’t have anything to do with the previous issues. At some point I guess Klein decided to do a time jump and maybe forget about the plots Moench left behind.
Nonetheless, this issue was ranked #35 in Wizard Magazine's list of "100 Best Single Issue Comics Since You Were Born".
The art is starting to look way much better than the earlier issues of this title. McManus brings something special into alien characters.
I give the issue a score of 8
