hey i just read the "something soft" thing you wrote about matt and peter and it was THE most valid thing i have ever read. do you have any other headcanons about them?? there's so little content for them and it makes me sad

aww, thanks so much i’m glad you liked it! i didn’t really expect anyone to read it tbh, since it’s just a bunch of self indulgent fluff. i’m in the middle of writing up a short post about an au where they’re bio brothers right now, but sure, i’ve got time to tell you guys some hcs for these two because i just really love their dynamic, plus some explanations for the hcs i included in my last post:

peter sleeps over at matt’s whenever his aunt has late shifts, because the quiet of their house at night brings back bad memories, and he doesn’t want to be left alone with his ghosts. even if matt’s out beating up bad guys, peter still prefers his place because it doesn’t make him think of his uncle.

peter’s senses are a lot stronger after he gets bitten by the spider, and in the first few months especially, he tends to get really overwhelmed by just how MUCH every thing is. matt, whose senses are even stronger than peter’s, knows how it feels, so he helps coach peter through it. peter doesn’t use the earplugs very often because it makes him anxious to not be able to hear what’s happening around him, but it helps if he can feel Matt next to him, because he trusts Matt to keep him safe.

peter loves interning at Stark Tower, but there are always so many people there, and the avengers can sometimes be a lot to deal with, so whenever he wants some quiet town he visits Nelson & Murdock to “help out” (read: distract Karen with how adorable he is and make all their clients fall in love with him)

past clients will sometimes visit the office specifically to bring some cake or cookies for Peter, because they know what a sweet tooth he has.

foggy tries to be annoyed, but he highkey adores peter. not only because he’s such a good kid, but also because he makes matt take better care of himself, if only because matt knows that if something were to happen to him, he wouldn’t be able to look out for spider-man

the defenders and avengers have weekly custody battles over spider-man

aunt may can’t make it to career day at school, and peter doesn’t want to ask tony to come because he’s trying to keep a low profile. so he asks matt to come instead. matt ends up charming the pants off everyone and their mothers, and now the girls in peter’s class won’t stop asking him about his really hot older brother. tony sulks for weeks afterwards that peter hadn’t asked him to come.

people are baffled when the ever friendly spider-man starts hanging out more and more with the elusive Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. spidey has worked hard to cultivate a friendly and approachable persona for himself, while daredevil is on the complete opposite end of the spectrum.

daredevil doesn’t bother with social media, so spidey’s selfies of him on his insta and twitter are the first time a lot of the superhero fandom have even heard of him. matt tries to be upset, because there’s a reason he chose the whole devil theme after all, but he has to admit that it helps that the police are no longer in a shoot-on-sight mentality with him, and that the people he rescues aren’t terrified of him any more. because yeah he’s scary, but if he’s friends with spider-man, that means he’s a good guy right?

some of daredevil’s villains make the mistake of trying to attack spidey to get at him. they regret it when not only daredevil shows up to rescue him, but also jessica jones, luke cage, iron fist, punisher, and mother. fucking. deadpool.

at first, peter’s datemates get anxious when they have to meet Tony Fucking Stark and they try their hardest to impress him, but people learn pretty quickly that if you want to date Peter Parker, the one you have to impress is actually his brother, Matt. It’s not the end of the world if Tony decides he doesn’t like you, but Peter has actually broken up with at least 2 people when Matt said they can’t be trusted. (The general consensus is that Peter is closer to Matt than he is to Tony, but the truth is that since Matt can hear people’s heartbeats and can tell when they’re lying to him, he’s just objectively a better judge of character)

Everything I have been posting right now has been prewritten for about two months. I work retail and with my promotion I’m literally working six days a week and haven’t had time to write anything. I’m hoping to start writing again right after Christmas. I guess it’s on a tiny hiatus since my life has been insane. But don’t worry it will coming back very soon.

umm headcanons about how peter has spider traits?? please sign me up, what all do you have? I'd Love to hear them

oh my god please don’t ask me these kinds of things i don’t know enough about this fandom yet to know these kinds of headcanons yet i need to be more careful about what i say in my posts

anyways, i don’t have that many, but a few that i’m fond of:

peter remains relatively petit into his adult years (in many spider breeds the females tend to be a lot bigger than the males)

his diet consists of more meat than the average person (most spiders are carnivorous, though there are some omnivorous spiders but even their diets consist mostly of meat)

peter has thunder thighs (spiders can jump up to 50 times their own length)

as mentioned in my last post, peter’s body can’t thermoregulate really well so he’s weak to the cold (i like to hc that the grandmas of new york like to knit sweaters for him to wear in the winter. he has to be very careful to keep spider-man’s sweaters separate from his own)

peter is bound to mix up the spiderman/peter sweaters tho. and i'd like to think (from my very, VERY limited knowledge of the spiderverse) that the neighborhood he is getting them from is one he is very close to, at least as peter parker. what i'm trying to say here is there's a group of grandmas that get together for crocheting + knitting and really just hope that peterman, that dear boy, reads the sticky note that says not to be out too late or be too risky, and please study for your next 1/2

(2/2) exam. the grandmas(tm) may or may not wonder how aunt may is doing and may or may not give peter parker a sweater for his auntie as well as an invitation to the grandma get-together but only if and when she wants to come and oh does she sew? my hands are a bit shaky you see maybe she has some pointers

But honestly this is so freaking pure, I love it. Peter makes the mistake of wearing one of spider-man’s sweaters when he goes out shopping one day and one of the grandmas sees him and that’s how they realize that it’s sweet little petey parker who’s been saving new york and “goodness me he’s only twenty and he’s already been spider-man for so long, he must have been only 15 when he started! just what does that boy think he’s doing!”

Peter becomes New York’s grandson and is always being given sweets by various grandmas which he doesn’t mind because he has a really high metabolism and his food bill is way too high, and not to mention that Peter and Spider-Man both have more sweaters than they know what to do with.

So, you have dragged me into the hell that is Spider-Man due to your excellent recommendation skills. However I've been thinking, a lot of docs and comics describe Peter as being tired all the time due to no sleep. I'm thinking it would be cool if he didn't have to sleep. Spiders don't sleep in the traditional sense, the more like rest with their eyes closed. It would be cool if Peter had that trait because he could go on longer superheroing!

That’s actually a really cool headcanon though. I didn’t know that spiders don’t sleep the normal way! It does have a lot of really interesting potential for fics though.

Since Dad-Devil only works at night, it would mean Peter would have more of an opportunity to do team-ups with him and/or Deadpool (whenever he’s in town)

Can you link the spidey fic(s) where he doesn't realize Matt is blind? They sound really fun

Ahhh that’s a difficult one nonny because it’s usually not the main focus of the fic, so it’s hard to remember which fics have it in it. Honestly, the only one I can think of is a fic that I’ve already recommended several times on here, but like everyone should definitely read: The Teenage Vigilante’s Guide to Saving New York (And Making Friends Along the Way). It’s part of a series, and the rest of the fics in it are super awesome too :D 

Peter finds out about Matt something like 2/3 of the way in, and it’s literally the funniest reveal ever, I’m completely in love with it lmao.

Since you mentioned spider headcanons, one I contemplated at like 3am was wondering if Peter would ever exhibit certain prey-catching behaviors often shown by spiders, like if he's trying to catch a bad guy or even just focusing on grabbing something.

Lol that would be pretty interesting! Honestly all these spider headcanons lowkey remind me of all those harry potter headcanons about people acting like their animagi forms lmao

I don’t know that much about how spiders hunt their prey, but I can imagine it would be pretty freaking creepy if there was a villain who’s just minding his own business, trying to mug someone or something, but then he suddenly gets this feeling like he’s being watched so he spins around, and nearly jumps out of his skin when he sees spiderman crawling silently down the side of a building, waiting for the perfect moment to jump into the fray.
