The girl grunted as she tried to force the last few items into her already-bulging backpack. Maybe she was over-prepared, the brunette was aware; but all the same. For her very first official AVL mission? Even if she was just tagging along with Gru and Lucy, even if her role was just to find a safe corner and provide support for them by hacking into the security system of the lair they were infiltrating?

Margo wanted to make sure that she had all she needed.

Finally forcing the zip to close over the last few supplies she'd just purchased, the bespectacled girl let out a breath of satisfaction, slung the heavy bag over her shoulder--

And almost clobbered the girl who was exiting the shop behind her with it. Margo's hand flew to her mouth with a gasp.

"Oh, I'm so sorry--! Are you alright?"

As much as she was sure that Gru, in this position, would have just laughed and moved on... Margo didn't have it in herself not to care about the fellow kid who she'd almost knocked down.

    oh, man. it was starting to pour down. normally, alberto didn’t particularly mind getting caught in the rain, he loved being able to transform and just jump into puddles and let himself be in his true form. unfortunately, he was dressed in some fresh new clothes that massimo had gotten for him, and he didn’t particularly want to get things wet. unusual? yes, but massimo had tried to teach him the importance of taking care of his clothes.. most of it went over his head, but.. he was trying, at least. 

    clutching his large blue umbrella, alberto let it rest over his shoulder idly, turning his head to notice a stranger - some girl he’d never met before. he inclinded his head towards her lightly, giving a half smile before he spoke. 

   “ heh. really comin’ down today, huh? ”

“Okay, so. Before you say anything, this isn’t what it looks like...”

She was the literal president of the game, she couldn’t exactly get into trouble for anything, anyway. But the fact remained that... well...

If this looked bad, that was because it kinda was. Just not in exactly the way it looked. Vanellope had borrowed Taffyta’s kart to take for a little spin, see what the blonde had been complaining about it’s steering being sticky. She hadn’t deliberately landed it nose-first in the taffy swamp.

A lot more than just the steering was sticky, now.

Still, she pasted on a smile for the visitor.

“But heeeey, what brings you on by this way again? Another lost bear?”

(with Vanellope) “Maple!” Karoline Oakwood kept shouting to look for her little bear that entered Sugar Rush for smelling sweets, until she looked up & see the brown bear cub climbing up the peppermint tree “Maple! you come down here now!" but Maple the Teddiursa shook his head, he likes climbing things "ok then, I’m comin’ up!” she starts climbing up to get him “until I get you down, you are-!” but before she’s finished her sentences…

“You might wanna watch out for which branches you grab.”

Vanellope had been observing the scene quietly nearby. There’d been nothing wrong with visiting her old haunts, she thought, and that was when she’d spotted Karoline trying to get her Teddiursa down from a candy cane tree. An unusual sight, sure, but honestly? Vanellope wanted to help out.

“The branches that got two sets of stripes?” Vanellope tilted her head and leaned against the trunk. “Those break. I can help ya out if you want!”

“Not ta brag, but I’m pretty good at climbin’ these trees.” She really wasn’t meaning to brag. It just was the truth.

One last present for her... and this one didn't seem to be from any of her immediate adoptive family groups? The child puzzled over the box for a moment. Shook it - it didn't rattle at all. Pondered a little.

Then, of course, ripped the wrapping paper clean off and watched the items tumble out.

"Oh, these are pretty nice!"

Whether her gift-giver knew it or not, the hat in particular was appreciated: while she would never slow down her racing even on the coldest of days, her ears, sticking out from her hair as they did, had certainly been feeling the chill when she'd been zooming around in Slaughter Race's winter season... without a second thought, Vanellope rammed the hat onto her head, over her ponytail and all, and pulled it down until it fit snugly over her ears. The mittens followed suit a moment later, engulfing her hands.

"Now I don't hafta to worry 'bout my hands freezing to my steering wheel, either! Thanks!"
