"Quite the conundrum,” He plays along, an index finger pressed against the end of his chin in an exaggerated gesture of contemplation. “How very difficult to come to a decision. However I do reckon that you’re neither.  What you are, my dear-” A deft flick of his wrist has him smacking an open palm against the right side of Jerome’s face in a greedy grasp, as though to bring him closer. Teeth bit down upon the capsule Oswald had concealed under his tongue, spilling inky liquid- a temporary paralysing agent of which only the Penguin held an antidote to, is promptly spat at him.

He doesn't even so much as flinch as infected blood and saliva splatters across his face, golden eyes remaining locked onto Leon's own pair of defiant blue. Most other people would have been taken aback by the action, shocked that Mr. Kennedy could do such a thing but Zeno is not most people and knows Leon isn't either.

He's a fighter in more than just body and spirit, defiant to the end even as he's being pinned against a wall. Hard.

Not even an expression of shock across Zeno's face nor disgust as globs of blood and spit slowly roll down his cheek. Leon's essence mingles together with his own sweat in a vile concoction of ichor and decay and it's something he almost relishes as Leon glares back with tremendous dislike - somehow he's still pushing on despite his insides being ravaged by disease as much as Zeno punishes his body physically.

Almost impressive really, that Leon still has the nerve to push his buttons like this when death is literally knocking at his door. It does give him a moment's pause, Zeno allowing the mess of blood and saliva to slowly trickle down his face. Rather than getting angry at Mr. Kennedy for what others would say is blatantly disrespectful act, he can't help but be oddly elated, even thrilled despite theirs being locked in a battle to the death. He can't help but lick his lips. Slowly dragging his tongue over curdling haemoglobin and Leon's own saliva intermingled. It tastes as strongly as it smells too, of Leon, of life and death happening at the same time. It tastes like himself, Raccoon City Syndrome not sparing him from its cruel talons either and it's exhilarating they could share such a connection even now, locked in battle beneath ARK. Zeno leans in closer, never once blinking or taking his eyes off Mr. Kennedy's own as he rolls back his tongue, practically savouring the filth Leon personally plastered across his own decaying face. "Starting to taste a little stale there, Mr. Kennedy. You don't have much time left..." He croons gently, almost intimately into the other man's ear. He doesn't have much time either, feeling his own DNA slowly coming apart at the seams. Oh well. It just made the time they had left all the more special, and Zeno did intend to enjoy things as long as he could make them last.

Out of their line of sight, the Emanator's features contort into one of vague derision when he studies the High Elder. If it hadn't been for the fact that his Aeon deemed his existence necessary, the arrogant vidyadhara would have found himself at the mercy of his followers.

No matter. Dan Feng's fate was sealed from the very beginning. All Da-ji had to do was exercise patience; which, to the other's credit, rapidly wane in his presence.

Flesh splits beneath sharpened teeth when they found purchase upon the curve of his shoulder. Da-ji digs them in further, hollowing his cheeks to draw more blood than necessary. Cautionary hand upon Dan Feng's bicep, the Emanator proceeds to gnaw- tearing skin and muscle before turning to the side and spitting the remnants on the pristine floor.

The High Elder's blood sizzled against the ground, winding repeatedly into shapes twisting and folding into themselves. Once the smoke fades, a shriek is heard. A single bat bursts forth, circling above both their heads before attaching themselves upon the ceiling banister.

It’s a curious thing just how one could still hold onto the same bad habits of old even when they’ve succeeded in turning life as they knew it around on it’s axis. That was very much the case for Oswald Cobblepot. And perhaps, of all the vices he still carried to this day, continuing to associate himself with Jerome remains the filthiest one yet. 

Much like nicotine entering the bloodstream and coating his teeth, the clown is a stain that one can never quite rub out. 

“Oh believe me darling, I’m under no illusion when it comes to that.” His response is accompanied with a sharp smile, hooked against the ends of his mouth in an upward curve. Polite it may be, there was nothing in it to suggest humour whatsoever. 

There is a barest hint of his eye twitching when he wiped at the traces of blood left on his mouth from the aftermath of an inflicted gash with a knuckle, experimentally testing out the tenderness of his cut. His gaze shifts to a point just behind Jerome’s shoulder- a misdirection used to briefly distract his companion in favor of seizing the front of his shirt to bodily drag him close enough just so he could spit the recesses of iron from his teeth in his face. Contemptuous, with force, and veracity.

The curved tip of Oswald’s umbrella is used as a makeshift hook, slid along Jerome’s knee and yanked sharply in hopes of upending the clown’s balance. Should he succeed, the mobster would waste very little precious time in crushing the breath out of him by dropping himself down against his abdomen while he purrs. 

“After all, where’s the fun in anything if it’s that easily earned? Isn’t that so?”
