Making something based on an old idea I once had for tfone megs/d-16.

After the script was released, I had a thought, especially with how many people would joke saying 'D-16 grabbed Orion, Megatron let him go'- Megatron and D-16 are separate people. Like- different mechs entirely.

Megatron is a defensive alter, formed to protect D-16 from any dangers, be it physical, mental, or emotional. From what I know from my little knowledge in IDW, cold-batches are mocked and hated by most Cybertronian's, and I heavily hc D-16 and B-127 are cold-batches. Being a mech with who is a cold-batch, cogless, and is most often times mistaken as dead, he was put through the brunt of the bullying against other miners, and almost every mining guard in the beginning.

A brutal beating in his first weeks of being online caused 'Megatron' to form and take over, protecting D-16 from the pain and guilt of hurting others for his own safety, though he had no designation then. He rarely came out after then, as after the first few times most mechs left D-16 alone out of fear. Orion never knew about this, as they were still new to being around each other.

When D-16 learned the truth about Sentinel's actions, and his eyes became orange after being given a cog, he was unknowingly mimicking 'Megatron,' the surge of anger from the betrayal making him forget to think properly.

At the pit scene, when Orion was barely functioning, D-16 was terrified. Terrified of losing his friend/lover, and him being the reason he was going to die in the first place. His eyes lighten up to an amber yellow in the movie, and in that moment 'Megatron' believed he was in danger.

So when D-16 lowered his head, he was blacking out and letting 'Megatron' take over (think like how Cruella came alive after Ella let her in from 2019). That's why his eye's became red right after, and he became far more aggressive than D-16 ever was.

Again. All my thoughts for an old au idea, not a headcanon.

It's rather embarrassing how often some of my more disciplined and productive moments in life were when I was in love with someone, as I was trying to make things happen for them. I should find out how I can fall in love with myself like that.

Maybe I can develop a form of schizophrenia, DID, or somehow manage to gaslight myself into being in love with a fictional love interest just to establish that level of productivity and discipline again.

This whole time, I develop a fake persona (hehe) that is in a long-distance relationship with me, writing me letters and stuff, and split personalities start drifting apart while both personalities develop a more intimate connection towards each other.

It'll be a beautiful mess, but damn, imagine the great things that would come out of the productivity

I like the idea of Pitchfork not focus-grouping perfect 10s, dishing ‘em out impulsively, almost as a favour, on a whim. Most listeners love music instinctively, or I hope we do, and P4K handing out a faultless score to 12 Rods’ Gay? shows that the publication’s writers were once like the rest of us, sympathetic and blinkered and impulsive. Even if it happened just the once.

Perhaps it seems unfair to talk about 12 Rods solely through Pitchfork, but it’s justified. The latter has remained a much greater cultural force, even now, nearing its (apparent) end. Gay’s actual sound? Soaring fuzz-indie, a product of the reverb-soaked alt-rock-worshipping ‘90s. Split Personalities refined it all a bit, focusing more intently on melody with less fuzz and more stylistic diversions – a superior, refined work of the same era (with a couple of the same songs). 

It's Pitchfork’s perfect rating that refuses to allow 12 Rods to fade into obscurity – but also drives listeners (ie me, particularly non-Americans) to engage with the rest of the band’s discography. That critical process allows a panned work like Separation Anxieties to find new audiences; indeed, it succeeds more than the reaction it stirred in critics of the time, admirable enough in its pop intent if still clearly a lesser effort. On the flipside, I’m not sure Lost Time is quite the return to form it was heralded as; a return to 12 Rods’ earlier style, sure, but not necessarily to quality. 

In many ways the crowning statement in 12 Rods’s longevity arrived just last year. A full two decades after Lost Time came If We Stayed Alive, a record largely (but not entirely) unremarkable in content but entirely notable for its very existence. 12 Rods doesn’t owe everything to Pitchfork, but it owes enough – let all that be a testament to criticism.

Dan Dumont suggested this one to Dan Decarlo. Split personality disorder? One personality takes the wife's maiden name. The Hen-pecked one, I guess.

Tony Decarlo chimes in with a suggestion. He perhaps did so when meeting Dan at the deli? He watches tv. The great doctor fight of the 1962 tv season. I wonder about the tenor of the suggestion. Did Dan Decarlo just flesh out Tony Decarlo harping about not being able to decide which tv show to watch?

I'm so tired of people thinking DID is extremely rare.

about 1% of the population has DID. that's about 1 in 100 people. for reference, about 2.3% of adults in the US population have OCD.

child abusers and predators aren't as rare as you might like to think they are. in my experience, not as much is done about child abuse as many people would probably like to believe.

I have a friend whos a minor hoarder, they also self diagnose themselves with split personalitys, they also are on T so their hormones are everywhere. They say they have really bad anxiety, i have problems trusting what they say because they've done things in the past that ruined their relationship with their parents. And then continue to do suff behind their backs, they dont actively take stepz to help their mental health, im trying to help but they think the best thing to do is move to Europe?

Theresso much going on with them and they say their doing everything, butik their ride everywhere, so i know when they see their therapist andthey havent talked to anyone but poeple online???? And im happy theirtalking to someone but yheir terrible at taking advice

Itsounds like this friend is going through a lot. From what you aresaying, it also seems to be that you feel responsible for them insome way.

That’sa lot to take on. Up until very recently, I felt like I had to beresponsible for the people around me, as well. I felt like I had totake on their problems and come up with ways to fix them, because ofthe way I was raised. When they were going through these things, andhaving all of this difficult stuff going on in their life, I feltlike it was my responsibility to deal with it.

However,it was a hard lesson for me to learn that I was not responsible forthem. It wasn’t until I was continually trying to fix things forthem, and they’d push back hard over and over again AND goingthrough therapy, that I realized I wasn’t responsible for them.

Iknow this is hard to hear. But it’s not your responsibility to fixthese things for your friend. Even and especially ifthey don’t have things together. Your friend is their own personand has to learn to fix thesethings for themselves. Even if you can see the things they aren’tdoing, you have to give ownership of these problems to them.

Thebest thing you can do when these things happen and you get frustratedby them is to remind yourself that these aren’t your problems. Itisn’t up to you how your friend chooses to address them. Giving upthat control is so, so hard. I know it was for me. Feeling like I hadthat control was the only thing that really protected me from the badthings of the past. Maybe that’s how it is for you, maybe it’sbecause of something else. I don’t know where it comes from foryou. But learning that lesson is hard.

However,being able to accept that will give you so much energy back. It willgive you the ability and the permission to take care of yourself.
