Summary:
In a small town in Iowa, people are being killed inexplicably by their worst fears.
Still reeling from the fallout of Dean's possession by the Confederate ghost, Sam struggles to regain his footing when Dean insists on taking on the case on the heels of the confrontation. Unsure of where he stands with Dean now, Sam takes a risk that may turn him into the next victim. He discovers that the thing he fears most isn’t what either of them expected.
We’re back! At least for the time being, hee!
WHEN NATURE SPEAKS, WE LISTEN - Sam's humanity is thrown into question when a case goes sideways and the boys find themselves needing to choose between Sam using his magic, or almost certain death. Meanwhile, Sam knows he has to come clean about his vision to Dean... and in the process, long-buried issues end up coming to light, too.

my thoughts: I loved this fic so so much. I loved how sprinkles made Sam the android robot so vulnerable, how creatively they translated human reactions and emotions into plausible and interesting android behavior. I loved the slow building of trust between him and Dean. I loved how competent Sam was as a robot hacker (semblances of murderbot) even when he was compromised & struggling. I think my favorite part was when Bobby & Dean were trying to perform surgery and betraying all his programming, Sam was scared & then it hurt. Such an excellent fic!!! This fic rec has been added to my SPN android AUs reclist.
The Self Is Not So Weightless (Nor Whole and Unbroken) by OxfordRose (jadinacookie), redtailedhawk90. Rated Explicit, Gentlebeard, 75k words. Summary: "Does anything about my appearance strike you as familiar Mr. Teach?" Danford asks, as if Ed hadn't just asked a question, moving aside the bowl to sit down on the stool. "Or my name?"Ed squints at him. "Nah, sorry, mate."
Danford nods, a hand slipping into the pocket of his apron once more."That's about what I expected. Not that it would change matters if you had, I just imagine that these proceedings might make more sense to you. Call this...a reckoning if you will."
Or: Before Stede and Ed can reunite after the academy, Ed is captured by a privateer with a personal grudge.

My thoughts: This fic features some serious Ed whump - torture & humiliation before Stede gets to him but once the hurt is over, Stede's comfort is unparalleled. The writing is superb. I was up until 2AM on a work night devouring this fic. The crew & Stede discovering what had happened to Ed and then taking such good care of him. Ugh, this was such a healing fic. Much love to the author, they did such a fantastic job. Added to My Favorite OFMD Fics
Spirital Remedy by AceofHearts61. Teen, Gen/Other, 2k words. Summary: To prove that Dean isn't dead inside and to bring him healing, Castiel connects the Winchester brothers to love at the soul level.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/374556
My thoughts: Castiel orchestrates some soul-healing cuddles between Sam and Dean. I can’t get enough of AceofHearts61′s fic. This was just magnificent. Added to my Spiritual Stuff Reclist.

Summary:
Strange, unexpected problems had a tendency to drop into Bobby Singer’s lap out of nowhere. He was used to it, and to the universe somehow expecting him to know what to do next.
What he wasn’t used to was an angel falling full speed, wings out and trenchcoat on fire, onto the bed of the ’66 C10 Pickup he’d just towed into his salvage yard.

It’s my fic for the 2022 Hurt/Comfort Exchange! It was fun writing a fic from Bobby’s point of view for something different and I’m rather pleased with how this one came out. One of four fics I get to claim as mine tonight! (The other three I’ll share once the Stork Swap reveals go live...) Thank you to @mrcowboydeanwinchester for the beta!

Sam sat within the center of his two circles of protection: one drawn within the dirt on the top of the hill and the second one made of salt he had blessed for ritual purposes. Over his head, a black bird flew and called before settling on the ground next to him. “I take it everything looked good?”
The bird, a raven with iridescent plumage nodded its beaked head and let out a single caw. Sam understood the meaning of his familiar and smiled. “Better to be over cautious,” he replied. “This is our first eclipse.”
The raven Sam had dubbed Catha, squawked, fluttering her wings in protest. “Sorry.” Sam amended his assertion. “My first eclipse.”
Catha nodded again then picked her way carefully over the dirt to where Sam sat cross legged. She pecked questioningly at the black pair of modified sunglasses beside him then leapt onto his knee. She cawed. “Yes, I’m sure they aren’t cursed,” Sam explained, taking the sunglasses off the ground. “I checked them three times.”
Catha made a noise that sounded eerily like a scoff, then flew quickly onto Sam’s shoulder. Sam slowed his movements, his body still not quite used to having a bird settle on him so close to his face. Her magic warmed him through his shirt far more than a raven of her size could normally do. He breathed deep, bringing the pair of magically altered sunglasses he had found in the Bunker’s relics archive to his face. He unfolded the temples and glanced in the darkened lenses.
On the interior surface of the glass magic swirled like microscopic prisms. Whatever magic had been done to this pair made them perfect for viewing an eclipse while appearing almost like the green-purple spots you get behind your eyes after looking into a bright source of light. Sam placed them on the bridge of his nose. Catha fidgeted on his shoulder but kept quiet as Sam took his first look around.
Awe filled his chest watching waves and lines of magic whirling everywhere like a kaleidoscope of colors and patterns. “And you always see this?”
Catha softly replied. “Amazing,” Sam mumbled. He glanced at the trees to his right and the town buildings off to his left in the background. The difference was striking. Magic emanated from the trees, the grass, the ground, and hovered in the air like bees buzzing around a hive. He could almost hear the frequencies. But to his left, the magical energy was less vibrant. Sluggish and less colorful, but still present, still moving.
Sam checked his watch. It was almost time. He lifted his head and stared up at the sky where the sun and moon slowly moved together. “Wow,” Sam gasped, the intensity of the magic shooting off the celestial bodies even more dynamic than the ones he spotted here on Earth. “It’s beautiful.”
Catha cawed. Sam flinched, startled by the sudden noise. “Yes,” he agreed. “And powerful.”
Catha asked him a question.
“Yes, I’m sure,” Sam replied, a grin slowly creeping over his face. His raven was always on the lookout for advantages, better strategies, more power. In some ways she reminded him a little of Dean and his gung-ho attitude towards violence and protecting those he cared for. “Today, we’re just here to witness. I just wanted to see it all for myself.”
Catha shook her head possibly in disbelief, but she made no further objections or suggestions. She sat on her human’s shoulder and watched with him as the eclipse continued to crawl past. Humans could be so squeamish, but her latest witch friend was at least a hunter, no stranger to blood and death. He would have need of her and more to the point he would last. He was smart, crafty, resilient, and strong. He would do well with her by his side. And besides, the food wasn’t bad.
