🧩 I'm so sorry if this is out of the blue, but I'm somewhat confused about Jax's room.

So, the meaning behind their bedrooms all varied. Some ranged from their annoyances to their loves. Pomni's room had oversized items, somewhat infantilizing her. Gangle's had Japanese lanterns, showing her appreciation for the culture.

I can see why Jax's room was the way it was, due to his struggles with feminine expression. I'm a little thrown, though, at why it was a little girl's room. Even the way Goose styled him post-show is more alt than anything. I've been trying to figure it out, but I have nothing.

It's probably because it is what jax views is most feminine and reflects what femininity is like to him. Femininity is childish, femininity is weak and small, like a child, femininity is being stupidly "girly" not being a woman with her own agency. It echoes how humiliating and trapped being feminine is to him. It's also the most stereotypical type of femininity, and we know how stereotypical jax is regarding his beliefs.

This was always my interpretation. With goose, I'm guessing she just took the most stereotypical eye raising girl thing she can think of to hammer in how jax has gender issues. I don't think anyone expected jax's room to exactly be like that until that ep showed it.

New anon here. I'm sorry but labeling Transfem Jax problematic because "Jax is an asshole who abuses people therefore it's transphobic" is such a discourse brained take.

Jax's toxic behavior is rooted in their vitriolic denial, repression, and rejection of their own transness. This is not Emilia Pérez and Jax being a terrible person because of internalized transphobia, doesn't mean their behavior is directly caused by their transness.

I'm wondering if Evil Jax was somehow meant to forshadow Jax's ending in some way, but it didnt work out too well, because Jax straight up used him like a chew toy and attacked him at every opportunity. Like maybe evil jax was meant to show actual Jax was scared and pretending to have a front, but...

Im not entirely sure what I'm trying figure out here, besides Jax acting like a feral raccoon even to something that was meant to be a different version of him. Im not sure if anyones made any sort of character analysis for this specific thing in regards to that episode and the finale yet.

It would've been amazing and subtle foreshadowing for sure but alas.... a certain bird.

I think I originally interpreted that as his detachment and self hatred for himself. And admittedly it is fun and cool to think that a random small character like evil jax could show an honest version of a character-- who's dead now. Trapped inside their own mind until whatever wacky shit Caine will do to pull him out which sounds painful too. It wouldve gave meaning... to a stagentt liff.. Additonally, jax being so downright HATEFUL of evil jax off the bat definitely showed his fear of vulnerability and submissiveness, which does foreshadow his toxic masculinity and gender issues i guess subtly. It's crumbs but that's what I got.

I'm pretty sure goose just intended it as a jax being a shy blushing boy gag instead cuz literally nobody even brings up the evil counterparts once the adventure is over. And they never answered or implied why gangle randomly just doesn't have one. Crumbs

I was also hoping there'll be more to jax and him EATING things like that's weird? He did it to gangle too and had a whole adventure about it? Why does he wanna chew so bad?... he's a violent person but when he attacks someone he chews them? That is weird.

I guess I didn’t get my point across well enough in my original ask. Saying a trans woman is doing something in a “male” way is a microaggression, full stop. Evidently, you didn’t say that in bad faith, it was a mistake. Most microaggressions are things tacitly encouraged by society that people repeat without really interrogating it.

Using your own example— This isn’t comparable to saying racist media made by a black person feels like it was made by a white person because the main stereotype against black people isn’t that they’re secretly white. However, that is the case for trans women, who are treated like they’re secretly men. Bioessentialists frequently cite doing things “like a man” as “proof” that trans women are actually men in disguise.

Perpetuating misogyny (ironically enough) isn’t a gendered activity, everyone is equally capable of causing harm, regardless of gender. Gooseworx isn’t writing like a “cis man,” she’s writing like a misogynist— which is the actual point being made and gets the point across more succinctly.

The thing is that when someone uses language commonly associated with bigotry, it dilutes the actual argument being made, regardless of the author’s intent. It also gives people who already disagree with you more ammunition to use against you with bad faith arguments.

Obviously, misspeaking once isn’t a major issue in the slightest. I only really sent an ask because nobody else was properly explaining what was actually wrong with the statement, and I feel like learning from mistakes is more important than being reprimanded for them.

I really appreciate this detailed and informative response, thank you. I knew the subtle tones but didn't realize I was still committing and encouraging microaggressions. Again that's why I always put the #fuck terfs in any post relating to the trans rep issue and Gooseworx, I knew usually those are the people who wait and bite for a chance to compare to trans women as men. I guess as an unconscious action, I thought in some way it would cancel out the harm and pandering. At bare minimum the risk of it.

But yeah i see your point and fully agree. I apologize for siding with this idea and I won't be bringing up cis men comparisons again. I intended my statement as a one-off, existing in a vacuum exaggeration to how tone deaf goose is with her own gender, additionally with the fact that cis men have historically written women terribly with stereotypes, like I said, I would've said the same thing to a cis woman; because it stemmed from that fact as an pure exaggeration. Just saying this to why I didn't originally say misogynist, it was to highlight that historical pattern that is usual from cis men and their specific misogyny. Further showcasing how extreme Goose's stereotypical writing is; it's not a good look though and still holds that societal transphobic value. I think I will just now replace it with other terms like misogynist, internalized transphobia, or even boymom, bird, an exaggeration isn't worth it and still has that effect. Putting constant anti-tags beside.

Honestly I forget that part with microaggresions, it's more than just a racist person doing it intentionally to get away with backlash, but also conditioned ideals and bias portrayed as facts passed down into society, making things impossible to stay separate and isolated, even more so online. It will always be a microaggresion, and I do thank you for reminding me of that.

Also usually the type of people who call these things out are the type to glaze the hell out of goose, which they're just missing the whole point. Goose IS misogynistic and transphobic, but those other anons didn't feel like they understood that part. I did assume that because the anons were like 3 sentences lol.
