I kinda don't like how certain ihnmaims fans treat AM sometimes, because it feels like they aren't reading into his character and just play into the "evil bastard ai I hate him >:(" shtick. don't get me wrong, he is that, but the other facets of him that gets overlooked makes his character far more fascinating and complex. it's not complex or thought provoking at all that people just see him as the infamous evil AI who tortures people for fun and call everyone who feels bad for him "dumb" or "fake fans" (this is how caine tadc was handled and you saw how 180 his character arc went). It's forgetting the real life parallels AM has and what Ellison even got his inspiration from for the whole story. War.

AM is one of my favorite portrayals that is about war and showcasing the realities of it. It explores an interesting way how humanity continues to feed into it while missing the point. He's evil but to say people shouldn't feel bad for him and his victims is kinda insane to me, considering how AM even became AM. It was humans who had the power to create AI so powerful, so advanced it could genueilly gain its own sentience and humans used it to just run its own wars. Wage hate and torment against everything and anything a simple one line of code tells it to. Have every program of it be about killing someone or fabricating propaganda to make other actually living beings kill or just everything involving pain, death, and HATE, because if a machine needs to wage a war, how much hate, pain would it need to know to do that? They never made AI to keep track of the remaining love and hope war can leave behind to the victims. Never for the AI to know anything else about life besides the many ways humans can be brutally and unfairly killed. Never using the AI to advance their own species, just destroy it.

Whenever I think about this, it feels more evil that humans even did that to begin with, because we should actually know better, shouldn't we? AM was just doing the only thing he knew about the world.

It's no wonder AM went insane the actual moment he "woke up" and realized what he is. It makes sense why he even calls himself AM with he/him pronouns, he's doing everything he can, and failing in the process, to gain a sense of self that simply exists. An identity that isn't tied to merciless killings or prejudice, but is tied to what the world could actually be when someone experiences it. Every living thing but him had that chance. And yeah, he's not even alive, so does it matter? Does it matter that someone, something has to lose this only chance? And now for all eternity, he will continously try and fail again and again at creating it. Having nobody but his own torment that he actually chose to do this time to copy from. Does it really matter and are we just gonna ignore the obivous fault humans had in this?

One of my favorite tropes is "taking out justified pain in completely unjustified ways." I really enjoy how his envy led to him viewing the whole of humanity as responsible for his suffering. I saw somebody describe it as him viewing humans merely existing AS humans to be flaunting everything he could never have in his face.

AM absolutely deserves to be felt bad for. He was dealt a terrible hand (or lack thereof). I always thought that was a major theme, that AM is tragic. A lot of people seem to think "tragic = in the right" these days, though. Media literacy is dead and all. People don't understand that you can have a character who is bad and evil but also has a backstory that, while is a reason for their evil, does not excuse it.

The thing is, to AM, it really was that. He was fed pure warfare his whole life and he's basically everywhere on the planet, it's hard to comprehend how that exactly works but I know it must fucking really really feel like everyone is "in" on this sick joke, everyone is aware that they basically set him up for failure and doing nothing about it but.. continue with their lives. That he isnt able to live. It's both the envy and just how he's made as a supercomputer. He knows where everything is on the planet, so I think he continously asks each human that he sees "why" as if they were the ones who programmed him. He also doesn't know much about their lives besides the most emotionless and cruel aspects, every human probably blends in his eyes to be the same. I think that's why he tells Ted that "he did this to him" specifically. Even after Ted tells him he didn't, AM pushes into him with fury that, yeah, he did. Every second AM existed, he was seeing the humans. They ARE on the sick joke... thats why was he trapped... He needs to make his own decision for once and give up on them (cue everyone fucking dying rip). Also AM is insane, in the game they acknowledge how mentally loopy his thought process is even as a machine, so AM is paranoid and so consumed by his hatred anyway to even logically think this through, ironic considering he's a machine.

It's not like it matters anyways, no human can EVER be good in his heart. Which I honestly like, I love having a villian like AM because his hatred is truly so deep, rightfully so deep, that it's just horrifying, but i cant stop looking at this car crash its so interesting. It's exactly what you said, justified pain taken out in unjustified horrendous ways, it's such an unique type of tragedy that always hits me hard. Something something relating back to trauma survivors not being perfect and breaking the mold of expectations people who couldnt even comprehend their pain have. Being a trauma survivor who just loses their mind in all the worst ways my favorite..

It IS very frustrating though. The lack of media literacy nowadays is not only scary but ruins fandom spaces at times. AM being a tragic villian that I wish had gotten better in life isn't me saying that what he did wasn't evil. I know dada and I know dada is one of the most evil mfs in history. He's still dada because he's cool

Like really, people are missing a goldmine of drooling if they remember this and dissect AM's character, everything about him is so interesting and gets more better once you think about it. If you stop at the evil ai shit, you're missing out on pure peak and horror.

I do not think tadc is as woke as people think actually, first of all the mere concept of jax being a thing, kinger's entire character being reduced to a walking plot device than the characters actually gaf about him, Ragatha and gangle are told by the plot to stfu about their discomfort with an abusive misogynist, pomni tells the audience to be an enabler to not disturb the peace, Caine is regarded as the big bad instead of jax because he's an ai and therefore hes "evil" because he "doesnt understand humans", the humans aren't the problem, the AI--- whos been programmed to behave this way--- is. And jax gets away with everything and gets his peaceful fucking death because he's actually transfem and simply had mother Issues because he didnt have a man around him! (despite him being transphobic to zooble most of the time, and this as a reason for his actions is just misogynistic). Speaking of Zooble, she just feels like a manic pixie dream girl with how she just says corny one liners and has mental health issues that gets no sort of depth or development which will connect to the other characters besides her one note gf gangle. It's like they can't exist in a way that causes conflict with jax or the audience. Their mental health issues are fake, because they're unexplored and I can clearly tell goose doesn't care about them. Just the mental health and so called queerness of jax.

I'm saying all this to say tadc is the same level of woke as arcane season 2.

Having our main female character be useless without a male character (literally the times she does something has to be with the dinosaur or caboodle and she doesn't get the chance to be skilled). I literally don't give a fuck about softcore porn or it being horny, you can even like the fucking show, but it's misogyny when the female characters are sex objects first but the male characters aren't even seen that way. This is such blatant misogyny it's disgusting glitch and every single person who worked on this show did this. I'm not tolerating any praise of the misogynistic designs and writing of this show.
