SEA TAWINAN ✿ TREND TO ร่างทอง EP.1 (22 March 2026)
Hey Claire 🤞
I hope you are doing well and are enjoying your life in Singapore.
I just want to thank you because I have finished Hormones and I had an amazing, a wonderful time! This series is great and will stay with me for some time.
I have started The Believers after seeing you talk about it and I am hooked. It's so funny to go from Hormones, with baby James and baby Peach to this series 😂 They really improved a lot.
Sky was the one who impressed me the most. Pala is my favourite character from the last season of Hormones but I find his acting weak, especially compared to his role as Saint in High School Frenemy, where I first discovered him. So kudos to him for working hard and improving that much. Tor was good even as a rookie, Nadao did their job well by casting him.
I also watched Doctor Climax and I NEED a second season! They cannot stop the series like this and let us in the dark. I want, I NEED Tukta to be able to divorce his stupid and selfish husband and I want Linda to be happy too, without Nat because she deserves better!
So yeah, just wanted to say hi and to thank you for your blog and all your recommendations. I am grateful to you ❤
Hiiiii 🫶
Sorry I never got round to answering your last ask. But I'll let you in on a secret, I started bawling (tears of happiness ofc) when I read your ask. I was actually really stressed when I first moved to Singapore and I only felt truly settled after getting my first ever paycheck (so like a month into the move and job).
I'll save my thoughts on Hormones (and Sky) for the previous ask you sent (I'll probably try to rewatch S3 before answering it though, I do miss all my Nadao babies). But first, we have to celebrate the fact that you watch BOTH THE BELIEVERS AND DOCTOR CLIMAX AHHHHHHHHHHHH
I feel like I cannot gush enough on this platform about Netflix Thai Originals, especially with The Believers and Doctor Climax and Ready Set Love. Last year, it was just hit after hit after hit. I do think the originals this year were pretty good but there were more films than series. DO YOU LOVE MONK DOL TOOO????
you know... like this guy
AND DOCTOR CLIMAX TOO!??!!?!!!!!!!! so actually this show was when i truly fell for praew's charms (shameless admitting that before that i only thought praew was just a pretty face on ch7) because tukta was such a pitiful character (i only support cheating when she's the one doing it, not even linda i can get behind). imagine being drugged/given birth control pills against your will. god i hate how well ter played dr. nat because i despised that guy to all depths of hell even though i love ter mostest; he's funniest guy in thai tv ever.
the show was so slick. so cool. it knew exactly the vibes it was going for. it utilises the 60s setting so well and incorporated that immaculately into the editing, the transitions, the scoring, the lighting, the cinematography. everyone who follows this blog must have seen me embedded this gif like 5 times already but to this date, i still think doctor climax has the superior cinematography and editing that's pretty much unmatched.
and it doesn't come as a surprise at all when you find out that Doctor Climax is entirely directed/written/produced by the exact team (creator, directors, screenwriters) that produced Girl From Nowhere S1+S2.
Although cheating being a main part of the plot was a throwoff to a lot of audience, I completely understand. But I appreciate Doctor Climax in trying to ambitiously deliver a raunchy, sexy, provocative dramedy (i just know that if dr. nat had been played by a more conventionally attractive actor, i'm damn sure audience would excuse his cheating 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄)
i shall leave you with the latest peach and james' interview which they did completely in english
baby james and peach interviewing each other (these interviews being 6 years apart and they're basically still the same oh my god. i love besties)
Happy New Year Claire ❤️❤️
Thank you for all your gifs, your recommendations, your posts and your kindness and patience while answering my numerous asks ! I wish you a happy and healthy year.
If you could produce several Thai shows, QL or not, which kind of series would you like to see and with which pairing (existing or that you would love to see working together)? Ex: Tor and Punpun in a historical thriller or Yaya and Davika in a romcom GL (yeah a girl can dream)
Love you 😘
omg hi spoon
Happy New Year to you as well. I love this question so much, thank you for sending this in. I'm not that creative so I apologise in advance if any of the plots mentioned is based on or is similar to existing stories/series/dramas.
Baifern Pimchanok and Mai Davika in a romance, slice of life, family drama
I would love to see a colleagues to lovers to exes to cohabitating /children raising GL series between Mai Davika and Baifern Pimchanok. Mai and Davika has HISTORY as CH7 actresses and as formerly close best friends so I think it'd be a literal dream if we could get a GL (partly inspired by their irl relationship) with them. Mai Davika is on record for saying she's actually approached Baifern about a GL series before but it's probably not possible.
Donut Manatsanun, Linn Mashannoad, Nat Sakdatorn, and Aelm Bhumibhat joining Mandate S2 or a political thriller
I'm insane but I'm freeeeeeee. So this thought came to mind as I was watching this Thai On Screen Actor Association Roundtable and with the recent changes in government, possible disbandment of THACCA initiative, I thought about who could possibly be better to star in a political thriller than the members of TOSAA who have actually BEEN to those meetings and experience firsthand the bureaucratic problems when they're trying to make changes to the industry, to protect artists.
It also helps that I've seen all four actors Donut, Linn, Nat and Aelm done political-adjacent thrillers before (The Believers, Investigation Of Love, The Untouched, Doi Boy/In Youth We Trust....) and starred in recent Monomax originals so it just makes SENSE for me to get them in a show together, preferably in Mandate S2 so I could get more female politicians in the show.
To be honest, even if we just got one out of any of these actors who are on the board of TOSAA to join Mandate S2, that'd already be a dream for me. Or perhaps Mandate S2 is already a wishful dream in itself 😭.
+bonus gif of Nat and Linn in The Untouched
Nut Supanut, Up Poompat, Bright Rapheephong, Praew Chermawee in a legal comedy with a dash of romance if you squint
I really love episodic structure legal/procedural dramas. I find that these are great if you want to have an ensemble cast or cameos for different episodes (see: GMMTV's Break Up Service, Peaceful Property...). I would love to see quirky, eccentric lawyer Nut Supanut, assembling his friends from law school to start a firm, where they take on civil cases. I would love to see something like Ishiko and Haneo: You're Suing Me? but in a Thai setting. I feel like this kind of social-awareness raising drama is something that Thai PBS would do, in collaboration with Dee Hup House. Maybe I should slip into DHH's IG DM and make this happen because Nut, Up and Bright still have very close friendship with Tee Bundit.
New Chayapak and Junei Plearnpichaya and Ice Paris in a surrealism comedy fantasy drama Thai reimagination of Pushing Daisies
So to give some context, the plot of Pushing Daisies is about Ned, a shy pie-maker with the ability to bring the dead back to life with a single touch. However, the power comes with strict rules, if Ned touches the revived again, they die permanently, and if the revived individual remains alive for more than one minute, someone nearby dies in their place. Ned uses this ability to help private investigator Emerson solve murder cases by temporarily reviving victims to identify their killers. When Ned revives his childhood sweetheart, Chuck, who was murdered on a cruise ship, he's unable to let her die again. So Ned decides to keep her alive, but they can never touch.
I feel like this is the kind of series only Netflix Thailand and/or GDH/Nadao Bangkok could execute well. I first thought of this when I watched Ready Set Love and I was like damn, Thailand is so good at doing colorful shows with quirky, deadpan humor. I'd love to see a twist to this, perhaps we could see New Chayapak as the shy boy with the ability to bring dead things back to life, June as his childhood sweetheart and Ice Paris as the private investigator that utilises New's power to solve murder mysteries. Bonus if Ice's character harbours a secret crush on New's, so his and June's character is constantly competing for New's attention while New is oblivious to all of that 🤣.
This idea kinda resurfaced recently for me when I recently watched the classic Thai romcom? Citizen Dog, which has been touted as the Thai version of Amelie. And I have always how well Thailand uses sassy narrators for their fairytale-like comedies (see also: Great Men Academy, A Useful Ghost, OMG! Oh My Girl).
WATCH PUSHING DAISIES IF YOU HAVEN'T! LITERALLY BEST COMEDY FANTASY PROCEDURAL DRAMA EVER. I LOVE IT SO MUCH.
Ice Natara and Boy Pakorn in a dark humor action thriller BL drama
Now look, while I don't want to typecast either of my fave actors... BUT... I really want to see Boy Pakorn and Ice Natara in something together after I saw this clip of them at GDH year-end? mid-year? party. I'd love to see Ice plays a Daredevil-like vigilante/serial killer who goes after people who get away with murders by night, but is a timid forensic scientist by day while Boy plays a no-bullshit cop who is constantly breaking code of conducts while on mission so he's assigned these cold cases. Bonus if the characters are already in an established relationship and the series unfolds the past and present in parallel with each other.
I mean guess this might be loosely similar to stories like Killing Eve, Hannibal, Gotham, Sherlock maybe even Spare Me Your Mercy and the upcoming Gunshot. But I just think there's something that's always so delicious about a cat-and-mouse chase drama where the characters are in such close proximity, but they can't do anything about each other other than trying to thwart the other's next moves.
I probably got more things on my wishlist but at times it's just like I'd see someone at an event with another person and I go "Damn I wish they were in a drama together."
Claire,
I have just finished the first season of Hormones and THAT WAS SOOOOOO GOOD!!
I went into it without any expectations and I was sold from the first episode. I loved Dao, Sprite and Toei, those girls have my heart ! It was so funny and cute to see some familiar faces looking like babies when I am used to see their current work 😂 The opening is excellent, that put you in the mood of the show from the start. I understand why everyone went crazy about Nadao because it set a standard. I need to watch the documentaries to complete the experience.
So a huge thank you and I will go watch the second season ❤
Hiiiii Spoon 🫶
I'm always happy for people to discover Hormones. It's really a very risque series for the era of television that it was released in. I remember my jaw dropping the first time I watched them portray teenage sex, contraception, drug use... Like I know I shouldn't be THAT surprised since I've already seen Skins at that point but still I was SHOCKED because this was a Thai drama.
Which was your favorite episode? WinKwan was soooooooo 😭. They were THAT OTP for a lot of people. Actually DieselDream (Phuwin and Charlette) reminded me of WinKwan a lot, when I was watching Taste.
Please also update me on how your thoughts on Season 2 as well. I'd love to hear which storylines you enjoyed from the second season. Personally I thought S2 and S3 were pretty peak for KoiDao since in S1, they were still supporting characters.
Hi Claire :)
I just want to take a moment to thank you for your work on Mandate. Thank you for helping us discovering this show! It was excellent and incredibly frustrating for me to watch because too realistic 🤣 the actors were excellent! I hope we will get a second season, the way they end up the series could hint to it.
So yeah, thank you so much for the subs, the gifs and the post about the parallèle with the thaï political scene ❤️
Now I will start Hormones in a few days, it's going to be another type of ride haha
hiiiiiiiiii 🤗
Glad that you were watching Mandate with me. I saw your post in french about it, I didn't know you were French or from a French-speaking country!!?!?!?!!?! I feel like you guys with multi-party and coalition governments would feel even stronger about the politics depicted in Mandate than me.
So excited for you to start your Hormones journey, that one is crazyyyyyyyy. You're gonna see so many familiar faces in this one.
i love your blog so much...everything that you post is so beautiful
thank you so much my sweet..glad to hear that..
