‘Spotty Memory’
@musesmansion continued from here.
“Dolly?”
Was that her name? It... didn’t sound familiar. Come to think of it, the dog who had helped her to her paws still wasn’t familiar to her. He seemed so sure he knew her, though. So why didn’t she remember who he was? Or the mom he was talking about?
“I’m not joking,” Dolly insisted at length. “I don’t remember you. Or how I got here.” Or why she’d been lying in the middle of the sidewalk with her head pounding like it was when Dylan found her, for that matter. A moment passed before Dolly tilted her head and brought a paw against it to try and rub the pain away. It wasn’t working much.
“Actually? I can’t remember much of anything before you found me.”
@frantic-pup-deepak continued from here.
“I-I’m trying...”
Dolly really didn’t want to disappoint this pup. She didn’t want to disappoint any of them while she tried to get her memory back. The process, however, was a slow one because Dawkins and Dylan both had advised against the shortcut methods. She knew her favorite squeaky toy now, and had recognized feelings related to Hansel, but otherwise? Process was slow. Her best guess was that Deepak was a brother.
“We’re probably related, I... I can see that much ‘cause we’re both dalmatians,” she said. “Otherwise? Nothing. I’m sorry...” She lowered herself onto the floor and covered her snout with her paws. It felt so wrong to admit that to Deepak. He didn’t deserve someone in his life who had forgotten everything.
"Dolly! You remember me right? You do remember little brother Deepak?"
“I’m sorry... I really don’t.”
“But hey, don’t feel bad! I don’t remember a lot right now... it’s not just you,” Dolly said. She wished she could remember more, but so far? Not a lot had been unlocked. If what Dawkins said was accurate, though, then her emotions were attached to things. Right then, her heart was aching for this little pup.
I have just had my first alcohol related morning of regret via flashbacks. Still not hungover doe. But lord have I fucked up.
