a degree in playwriting or dramaturgy sounds absolutely delightful! are you working on anything particularly exciting now that you want to share?
hi there this is such a sweet and fun question
i don’t like posting about my creative projects on tumblr anymore for a lot of weird reasons so i’m keeping it purposefully vague but things are really exciting right now.
a play of mine is being performed for a second time (this is so thrilling to me) at my college. i’m currently getting it ready to submit to professional stuff, like conventions, workshops, competitions, etc. after in theory it’s able to go through one of those a professor of mine wants to help me get it published. i’ve never taken this step with my writing so i’m nervous and grateful and nervous and happy and also, nervous. (beyond that i always have something i’m actively writing, i write every day and i love it.)
as for dramaturgy, this is a new interest of mine. (kind of? i’ve been doing what was essentially dramaturgy for years just for fun and had no idea.) i took a dramaturgy class last spring and absolutely fell in love with the subject/career. i’m currently putting out feelers at my school and in the community to see if anyone needs a dramaturg so i can have some experience before applying to literary internships after graduating.
idk if playwriting or dramaturgy will be more useful to me when i get my MA, but that’s a little down the line for me.
thank you for this question i had fun with this.
EDIT: the weird reasons above sounds weird so to explain— don’t want people to figure out where i live and go to school, i lose creative steam if i talk too much about my projects outside of just working on them, and my like ideas getting jacked is a genuine fear of mine. i was too vague.
