I’m a huge fan of Art Deco post offices and 1930s Federal eagles. Here’s a detail of a post office in Springfield, OH.

Eagle atop Springfield Federal Post Office Building." This is a detail photograph of the U.S. Post Office located at 150 North Limestone Street, Springfield, Ohio. At the top two corners of the building are mounted 18-foot eagles, one on each side of the entrance facade, said to be the world's largest fully-molded eagles used in ornamental construction.

We had the pleasure of visiting a new park near Springfield, OH - the Mad River Gorge and Nature Preserve Climbing Area. Although the park is still under construction, the dolomite cliffs are open for free and legal rock climbing. It is the largest climbing area in Ohio. Access to the cliffs is via an old railroad grade that hugs the Mad River.

The park continues to require a lot of cleanup because, as is typical in rural areas, people threw their trash over the cliffs for decades. But this beautiful area is already recovering and has a dedicated group of volunteer climbers and outdoor enthusiasts to help.
