So halfway through season 7 of Buffy and 4 of Angel. All I can say is daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyuuuuuuuuuum. Also, poor Spike! Was chatting with a close friend of mine whose also into Buffy and talking about life and kids and how Buffy is making me upack ✨childhood trauma✨via supernatural as metaphor. Like "why does this all feel familiar... ohhhh. Well, fuck." Lol I was not expecting this show to get this deep or complex or to even attempt to tackle half the things it does. I came for the vampires and the quips and then suddenly found myself thinking, "Wait, why did that fictional character fighting demons make me realize something about my own life?" I like had no idea how deeply fucked up some things were until a tiny blonde Slayer arrived in my life. When I sat down to watch the first episode ever of Buffy last year, I had EXTREMELY low expectations for the show, not gonna lie. I was expecting campy, cheesy, lame Dawson's Creek teen melodrama with vampires.
Wow, I was wrong.
Present me is just idly telling my buddy, "Anyway, this musical episode helped me unpack my existential disconnection and midlife crisis." Gods, I love this show so much. Got started on the second chapter of my newest Spuffy fic, too hooray!
I still have to get a cricut so I can start decorating my toddler's room in Buffy :) She now attempts to dance to OMWF. That is also one episode my husband will put on all by himself haha. He turned it on tonight and the entire family watched.
I have a sinus headache, and it's due to rain for the next six freaking days. Oh, joy. More time to work on fic with a nice mug of tea!
