Star Trek: Strange New Worlds | S0403 | Human Best Friend
Um...
If ST:SNW premiered in the 60s...
More about the spirk in the episode
Kirk was so kind and sweet and supportive - and he deliberately chose to spend his shore leave with Spock playing board games and having Spock pour out all his secrets to him. It’s so sweet - Spock can only imagine Kirk staying with him if he’s imaginary and then discovering that his ‘fantasy’ of Kirk choosing his company and allowing Spock to confide in him was reality…
Kirk really is literally the man of Spock’s dreams come to life.
I don’t care Strange New Worlds is a parallel universe, or rewriting continuity. It is just fucking weird for Jim Kirk to know about David.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds S03E04 A Space Adventure Hour
strange new worlds really can't keep trying to have it both ways. you can't have spock speak so robotically and act so stiff that he eats a leaf of salad with his elbows at perfect degrees and then suddenly when he's with a woman (whether human OR vulcan) he's suddenly mr. playboy 'let's make out sloppy style' while he's also going around shaking hands randomly with people, full palm contact and everything... it's just lazy writing, inconsistent, too. comes off as fake to me. choose one version (even halfway is ok, but constistently so!) and run with it!! it's not that hard!!!
what pisses me off about snw is that i really love some aspects of the show and i can see that it has the potential to be really good but it's like the writers are constantly working against that potential and it frustrates me so much. because WHY are you trying so hard to fumble your own show?
