"Sielunmaisema is Finnish and means a landscape you always carry in your heart - the one that immediately feels like home." - from the I wish I was in Finland FB page When I read this translation this morning, I immediately connected with it because this is how I feel about so many places in Colorado, but especially how I feel about the Dallas Divide in Colorado. It feels as familiar as my own childhood home, where the local convenience store owners knew me so well that they sent me off to college with my favorite beverage, a case of Coca-Cola. The Dallas Divide, and all of Southwest Colorado are under extreme drought this summer and my heart sank when a friend shared a post with me indicating that a fire had started just down the road from where I shot this and many photos. Thankfully firefighters were aided by calm winds and this particular fire was put out, quickly. If you find yourself in the Southwest this year, please follow fire restrictions and skip your campfire and by all means, do not through a cigarette out of your car window. #onlyyoucanpreventforestfires #usfs #wildfire #cofire #finnamerican #landscape #southwestlife #gmugnf #ridgway #telluride #dallasdivide #feelslikehome #stage2firereatriction (at Dallas Divide)
