Some of my favorite photo locations are like memories; I often visit them, try to make sense if it, sort the pieces I think bring the most meaning, and often walk away bewildered only to visit again soon. . Complicated landscapes to me, are the ones that in person are so beautiful, they take your breath away. A combination of natural features that overwhelm your senses. Because of our ability to see in person, not only what is in front of us but to the side and surrounding, our brains can isolate and stitch together a much larger image than anything I capture with a camera. So I must decide which parts are the key elements, what lens can emphasize those parts, the perspective, shooting angle, etc. In this case a real sense of danger limits these options further. I may return to this same spot, during different weather, light, seasons, and even when I am in different moods. . Deeply felt memories, can be much the same, posing similar challenges on my journey to make sense of past events. Sorting the actual from the percieved, giving yourself permission to feel the way you do, identifying the key elements and then learning from them, as well as letting them go. Returning to them at different, times, moods, internal strengths, and states of mind. Often they can lift me up or bring me down, depending on how much power I let them have. I was able to sneak out onto the precipice with my camera on a tripod, wide angle lens, 10stop ND and polarizer attached, to capture this late afternoon scene. The little clouds in front of a nearby thunderstorm added to the beauty, the motion of the roaring water in the gorge, providing a smooth leading line up the river. . Did I capture it to my satisfaction...for today, maybe. But I know I will be back. #emformdesign #creativewriting #landscapephotography #stanislausnationalforest #stanislausriver #naturelover https://www.instagram.com/p/By0eo1KBexg/?igshid=w2f9q04ae46c
