What circumstances make it necessary for Louis to hang out with someone like Nizam who has said disgusting offensive things? He can have a masculine laddy lad image without continuing to associate with ignorant bigots? These are his actual friends he makes an active choice to have in his life. They’re not management, crew members, or even industry friends.
This stunt is just really making me doubt Louis right now and see things differently. I know he’s closeted and that comes with difficult decisions and he’s been through unimaginable grief. However, it doesn’t feel like he’s being forced to do things like he was in 1D?
No one is making him act like a chav and refer to himself as so. No one is making him chain smoke and binge drink then proceed to glorify such things. No one is making him look like someone that just came off the street and not an A list musician worth millions of dollars. No one is making him hang out with conservative men and not diverse groups of friends who are also in the industry. I could go on and on.
I’m just so frustrated with him right now. He had so much potential at the beginning of his solo career and I felt like he looked and sounded amazing. Whereas now sometimes I feel like I don’t even recognize him. It’s like he doesn’t even care anymore. So why should I?
Hi, anon!
I understand that you are frustrated. If you want to see the conversations i've had before regarding Nizam, just use the search function on my blog and it should all be there. We've gone through all this before.
The thing is, Louis is closeted and for some reason (he's just too gay) he needs to have an exaggerated laddy and masculine image. He's trying to check all the straight man boxes. That includes not caring about appearance, and choosing comfort over style.
His friends and family are helping him with upholding that image and persona. That includes Nizam. Remember how everyone loved Stan, and then one day out of the blue he went on a twitter attack against us larries (and ganged up with EC)? Very OOC for him? And then suddenly he wasn't ever seen with Louis publicly again? Do i think he did it to help Louis? Very much so, yes. Do i think he massively regretted it when he saw the damage he caused and wanted nothing to do with Louis Tomlinson tm ever again? Yes. Do i still think Louis and Stan are friends? Yes.
So i think judging his friends and family by their social media posts, and trying to guess how close he is to his friends by what is posted on social media and how much he hangs out with them, is not a good idea. I think much like H, L lets his friends choose how public their relationship should be. Stan wanted a less public relationship with Louis. I also think they get to decide how big a part they play in aiding him with stunts and image.
You don’t have to like what's happening. Few people can say they absolutely love it. Most people want Louis to try to better himself, try to reach for the top, be himself, make a valiant effort and cater to his fans. So when that's not happening, you don’t have to keep supporting him. It's hard coming to that realisation that you have reached your limit. It's frustrating watching him waste his potential and make basic mistakes in how he handles his career. It sucks, we can't control it. It's his life and career. We can only control what we're willing to support or not. If you can’t support him anymore, that's understandable. I get it.
