Don’t think I’m not listening and cheering for the Sharks. Sure, I placed a bet that the Kings would win Game 1 but it’s because I love our Sharks so much. I seem to have a knack for voting for the losers.
See, the Sharks just evened the score 1-1 at the Power Play.

This is Our Year
ROCK THE RED!
Playoffs Night 1
Penguins vs Rangers: I don’t expect the Rangers to be very successful in this series because the Penguins are coming in as one of the hottest teams in the league. Combine that with the fact the Rangers have sent Pittsburgh home for the summer for the past two years, you know Pitt is out to get revenge. With that said, the Rangers stand little chance without Lundqvist and the injury he suffered in the 1st period was super flukey. You hate to see a guy go down like that so hopefully he will be able to return.
Hornqvist was awesome last night but Zatkoff was the real story for me. Guy hasn’t started an NHL game since Feb 20th and gets the call to start the playoffs. He was tracking the puck well and playing great positional hockey. He got tested early and kept the Penguins in a 0-0 game before the Penguins were able to strike moments after the Lundqvist injury.
Rangers just called up a goalie from the AHL this morning so that can’t be good news.
Blues vs Blackhawks: This one was a tense nail biter that featured two very good goalies. The end result, a 1-0 win for the Blues was probably something that shouldn’t have happened. Chicago failed on a 5-3, Toews failed on a two-on-one with Kane being the other guy and then Toews failed at a breakaway moments later. Chicago outshot St.Louis and the puck that did make it in the net wasn’t the best shot in the world but a reminder that throwing the puck at the net is never a bad thing.
Just a reminder though, the Blackhawks played a great game, Kane just had his best regular season and the goals will come. OH, and Duncan Keith will be back for game 2.
Lightning vs Red Wings: The story going into this game was all about what the Lightning and their injuries but the Lightning proved one thing last night – they are a deep team. Nikita Kucherov had two goals, Alex Killorn broke the tie in the 3rd. Tyler Johnson picked up right where he left off last year and added two points to his stats.
Can the Lightning keep it going? I still believe this series is going to be a long one.
