Psychology of Defiance
If you are not already familiar with the social experiments of one Stanley Milgram, I highly encourage you to check out some of his scientific findings regarding humanity’s social & psychological condition.
The research accomplished through the Milgram experiment had found a rare minority of people actually applied conscious effort and stopped giving electric-shock to a second “participant” of the experiment (later to be revealed as an actor). When asked to do so by Milgram and his team, only a handful of people actually became defiant to the instructions.
What’s most alarming (and just as fascinating) about the experiment was just how many people had willingly applied electric shock to another person simply due to their complicity & obedience to an “authority” (in this case Milgram and his team). More people kept shocking than not (believe it or not).
The fact of the matter is: The Nazis, too, were “just following orders” even when they commited one of the greatest sins of humanity and it was due to their obedience & complicity as well. Milgram’s scientific findings begs the question on just how far human beings are willing to go if given the impression that any disobedience shall be consequential (even at the expense of another human being’s livelihood). It makes ya think about the Jewish people in World War 2 that put their own in the oven rather than fight - complicit & obedient to prevent their own consequence. ...Like the police officers who stand by knowing their fellow officers are commiting crimes on innocent American citizens - for an unGodly quota (or their own sick reasons)... very well like the Christian Klans member who goes around to his God-loving brothers & sisters and commits the unGodly act of burning a cross in the yard of his fellow Christian man & woman & children simply because their skin color is different. ...it’s the Politician who depends on the same people that he condemns and wishes to conquer all (just to continously worship himself)...it’s a variety of mindless evil one must consider when dealing with humanity’s real social struggle and the overwhelming obstacles to overcome on a greater scale.
I hope this one droplet of knowledge can help shape the ocean of conscious effort to eliminate evil through civil defiance. God knows I find comfort in knowing there are people who certainly would refuse to hurt another innocent human being regardless of outcome.✝️💖🤝

It is not so much the kind of person a man is as the kind of situation in which he finds himself that determines how he will act.
Stanley Milgram
