The first Fourth of July Steve and Bucky get to spend together, Bucky makes sure to make it his best one. And paints flags on their faces and buys sparklers and takes him on a picnic with all of his special foods and they both agree to eat bananas for the first time since the 40's and laugh at each other's facial expressions. At the end of the night, Bucky takes Steve on this hill with a beautiful view of and the look on Steve's face when he sees the fireworks is enough to make Bucky cry.

Idek what prompted this but ITS GREAT AND I LOVE IT!!!!! Bucky would always try to convince Steve when they were kids that all the fireworks were for him probably, also probably would try to convince Steve that it was Bucky who’d set all the fireworks up for him, so when they watch it now Steve leans in and whispers “you really outdid yourself this time”.(It was kind of a risky gamble, because you never know what parts of their childhood Bucky could remember, but when Bucky heard his face flushed with pleasure and he smirked back at Steve, and the knot in Steve’s stomach loosened and he smiled brighter than all the fireworks exploding above them)
