for @jegulus-microfic's prompt, morals. (244 words)
lowkey obsessed with this
James sneaks up behind Regulus, snaking his hands around his waist and leaning his head on his shoulder.
“Mm, smells amazing, Reggie,” he sighs. Regulus is sauteing some mushrooms in a pan as part of their dinner. James will never get sick of Regulus’ cooking. “I would say you’re a wizard in the kitchen, like muggles do, but I think that would be a bit silly.” Regulus chuckles, leaning back into James’ chest.
“Are those morals?” James asks, trying to impress Regulus. He laughs in reply.
“Morels, love, morels. Morals are what you gave up to be here, mon amour.” James chuckles darkly, reaching down to lift up Regulus’ sleeve, exposing his forearm.
“That I did.” James lifts up his lover’s arm, tracing a finger over the black tattoo, the snake restlessly slithering in the skull’s mouth. James reaches down and places a kiss on the mark. “I don’t regret it for a second.” Regulus smiles.
“Good, because there’s no going back now,” he adds, tracing James’ mark through his shirt. James is obsessed with the shiver the touch sends over his body. He turns Regulus around, kissing him roughly, his arm swaying dangerously towards the flame.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” James says against Regulus’ lips. Regulus bites his lip and smirks.
“Love, the morals are burning,” he jokes under his breath. James laughs softly again.
“My morals burned long ago, cariño.”
The morels are forgotten.
