Flung - Effie x Monty - @taylorswiftmicrofic - 265 words - AO3
Effie smiles at the gentle fingers carding through her curls when she rouses, leaning into the touch.
“Good morning,” her husband, voice low and gravelly, says.
“Good morning. Happy birthday.”
Monty places soft lips against her forehead. “Thank you.”
She finally opens her eyes and gazes at the beautiful man beside her, with smile lines and more grey in his hair than black, looking just as breathtaking as he did when they first met as teenagers fifty years ago. Just as fun, just as playful and cheeky. Just as loving and caring and thoughtful. Today is one of her favourite days in the entire year. The birth of the love of her life. And they celebrate this wonderful, momentous day accordingly.
First and foremost though, Effie moves closer to him, connecting their lips in a tender yet also passionate kiss. But right as they get into things, hands roaming all over each other’s bodies, the door is flung open, and their son enters the room.
“Happy birthda- Oh. Oh, ew. Gross. Get a room.”
“We do have a room,” Monty exclaims exasperatedly. “You’re currently standing in it.”
“Oh, yeah. Well, happy birthday, dad,” James smiles at him. “You’ve gotta get up soon, Sirius is making you pancakes for breakfast.”
“We’ll be downstairs in a bit.”
The moment the door closes behind him, they turn to look at each other. “Did he say that Sirius is cooking right now?” Effie asks.
“He did.”
A split second passes before they rush downstairs, praying that it isn’t too late and their adoptive son hasn’t burned the kitchen down.
