I mean, in a fusion context, it’s not like amethyst would have known anything that Steven didn’t, and at that point, he still fully believed he was a quartz. (Also, maybe I’m wrong here, but re: the name “Smoky Quartz”, I’m pretty sure amethyst is a quartz by gemology standards, so that’s not wrong necessarily.)

Yeah I was wondering that alright, the fact that Smoky still ended up being a full quartz.

I just kind of thought that as the fusion was occurring and their physical forms became light and just the gems were left, like... wouldn’t Amethyst be able to just tell that Steven’s wasn’t shaped like a regular quartz? Like I said to someone else, gems seem to be able to tell the gems in a fusion just by looking at them. Amethyst is actually IN that fusion. Smoky at least could have been able to tell what the gems she was comprised of were?

I dunno, maybe it is just a case that none of them were expecting it to be a Diamond, so they didn’t think it was and never questioned it?
