CLAWS 2: Lilith v. Kaden

“Lilith and Kaden were both fierce competitors yesterday, but now we must answer the age-old question. Who is stronger? A dragon, or a kitsune?”

“...Yes, I know it isn’t actually an age-old question, but I thought it would get me a chuckle.”

Lilith Strike 1: 14 ATT (FAVOR bonus) / 6 DEF Kaden Strike 1: 12 ATT / 19 DEF

Lilith bakes a strong start, tackling Kaden to the arena ground right after he transforms. The kitsune yelps and kicks Lilith off, but when he tries to make a pounce of his own, he stumbles and misses.

Lilith Strike 2: 8 ATT (ROWAN disadvantage) / 19 DEF Kaden Strike 2: 12 ATT / 13 DEF (trick-or-treat ELM bonus)

Lilith makes another move to tackle Kaden, but he lets out a foxy laugh and dodges, a will-o-wisp that hovers near his tail getting in Lilith’s eyes. Her tail flails, though, defensively, and she blocks Kaden’s attempted strike.

Lilith Strike 3: 16 ATT / 14 DEF      Kaden reverts back into human form. Kaden Strike 3: 3 ATT / 13 DEF

Lilith makes another sweep of her tail and this time, she hits Kaden, knocking him over on his side. The kitsune is startled and reverts back to his human form after the impact. When he jumps up and tries to pin Lilith, he misses.

Lilith Strike 4: 19 ATT / 19 DEF Kaden Strike 4: 12 ATT (FAVOR bonus) / 8 DEF

Despite Lilith’s advantage, when she swipes at Kaden, he catches her hit, blocking and halting any forward momentum. He then pushes back and manages to gain the upper hand, tackling Lilith and pinning her to the ground to score a point.

Lilith Strike 5: 6 ATT / 11 DEF Kaden Strike 5: 12 ATT / 17 DEF

Lilith is a bit clumsy as she gets up from Kaden’s attack. She falters in her final strike. Kaden rolls to the side, dodging, but putting himself out of range, so his own final strike misses as well.

LILITH: 2 KADEN: 1

“What a close call! Even though he reverted to his human state, Kaden held his own quite well.”

“Is it me or is there more to Lilith than she’s letting on? Kaden is a fierce fighter, and I’m just surprised she’s doing so well given her small size. Oh well, I suppose the age old question has been answered.”

   you smile, taking lilith’s hand in yours and holding it tightly, as though you’re afraid she’ll slip away if you let her go. this entire venture into valla has been heartbreak after heartbreak, but for the first time in gods know how long, you feel... light. confident. like perhaps, just perhaps, you’ll have come out on top. you’ll have gained something, instead of lost it.

   lilith is your sister. your sister, taken by your father and made to serve him... until she could escape. your heart is hammering so hard you can practically hear it, and you suddenly can’t stop looking at her-- how did you not notice the similarities in facial features before? how had you never thought to question why she was so insistent on wearing her cap in human form? gods, your sister...

“we’re friends. we’ve been friends for years-- and more importantly, we’re sisters! why wouldn’t i care?” ... because you’ve spent the last long while shutting everyone out and hiding your feelings until you could no longer hide your pain and anger, and you’re realizing belatedly lilith saw it all. lilith remembers it all. “i-- lilith, i’m sorry... i have been a horrible older sister, haven’t i? i... have no excuse for how i’ve been acting. but-- i want to fix that. i want to be here for you. i...”

   there’s still a large, dragon-sized obstacle standing in the way of that, though. one big and dangerous enough to take her from you too. he’s already threatened it.

“i’ll protect you now, i promise. and when all of this is over, we’ll have all the time in the world to be sisters!” the last spark of hope within you... you didn’t think it still existed, and yet here it is, growing and flaring up and becoming a raging fire. “whatever you want, wherever you want to go... we’ll make it happen. so... so believe in me, okay? i’ll save you from our father... whatever it takes.”

At some point, Lilith had vanished. Takumi noticed this. She was just… gone. At first, the Hoshidan paid it little mind. She is not much for being in the forefront to begin with. It also would make sense for her to hang back, like the healers and spell casters do.

Normally would not be much of a problem. Except Lilith just was not around to heal Takumi when he needed it.
