Some Context for My Absence

I haven't said too much on here, but I wanted to say I'm not gone. I just had to take a break from... everything. This past February my father passed away unexpectedly which caused me to completely withdraw from emotional expression for a bit. I have thoughts that I want to express, I've been taking pictures, and I'm still writing. I will try to step my way back into posting, but if anyone was ever wondering, this is why I was silent.

Thank you for those that take the time to read this. It is still so raw that I struggle to say anything about my dad without sobbing because it makes me acknowledge that this is my reality now.

Dunes!?

White Sands National Park, NM, USA! Lots of dunes! However, even Albuquerque has dunes in the West part of town.

Do you plan out your photos in advance or is or more spontaneous (or both)?

Hi,

I think it is a little bit of both? I go for long walks and sometimes I come back to places for different lighting. For my more abstract photos, I plan what I want to photograph, but not how. A lot of my work is about living in the moment and capturing the world as a way of finding beauty and processing my experience. I create because I am compelled to and I have thousands of photos that sit for years before I post them (if at all).

Beautiful photos. What are you shooting with?

Hey I realized I didn't answer this! Thank you for liking my photos. I shoot with a Nikon D7500, which is by no means the top of the line. Any photo without a poem is shot with my phone's camera (Samsung Galaxy S22+).

Your photography is always so good and often showcases the great beauty of the world, but your words are always so heartbreaking (IMHO). I very much hope you will find more happiness over time. <3

Thank you! I use the poetry as a way of letting out the emotions that tend to bottle. I feel like it is important to not keep a lid on pain because it seems to get worse when I do. I hope I don't distress you too much! I am generally ok enough though. :)
