It's been a while since Dakota and Kaye got together.. and even longer since Dakota's been living on his own with Mallory...

Kaye has always wanted to get out of her own city apartment and move somewhere she can better improve her meditation and natural connections.. they're both graduating soon, this might be the perfect chance for them to leave the city behind and chase their dreams somewhere more suitable for them!

They've looked at Tomarang, Windenburg, and some places on the coast but only one place seemed right..

Amidst a crazy week.. Mallory had her birthday!

Dakota can hardly believe the day finally came.. she seems so much older already!

He had the best birthday gift she could think of...

And a .. not-so-pleasant surprise for her as well..

Meet Dakota!

"I wrote this as soon as I got your letter! Nothing's changed around here, still happily miserable. I talk a lot about my family but never really introduced them... but that can wait until my next letter. I really don't know what's wrong with this place. When mother met father and we moved away from Nordhaven, I thought the rumors were just... rumors. These past years it just gets worse and worse... the town and my home. My family is great. don't get me wrong! I'm happy and we live... very comfortably. But I feel suffocated. I can't cut my hear, can't wear what I'd like, everything about my life is controlled so carefully because I look like my mother. They don't regulate my sister nearly as much.

I count myself lucky for having a family, I couldn't imagine being in your shoes; but sometimes I just can't wait for the freedom of living without them, you know? They let my sister run around with a tail clipped on and I can't listen to non-classical music.

I hope to come visit you soon, my parents have been considering sending me to traditional school, and I'm excited by the opportunity for me to visit the city soon. If I can slip away from their watch at a festival, maybe I can come see you in person. Thanks again for always reaching out!

Maybe Dakota wrote a bit too much for a fourth letter, but it was oddly easy to open up to her... maybe he should proofread.

"Hello Dahlia!

Things are well here; we've been in the apartment for a little over a year since the last house kicked us out. I gotta say, things would be a lot easier if our parents hadn't gotten tired of us. Mallory is learning how to talk, and I've made some friends here in the city. I miss the Tomarang, but it's not too bad here... mostly. The apartment is gross. There's pests and it feels like everything is constantly broken. A friend asked to stay over and I said yes.. I still feel bad about it, she had to sleep on a bare mattress on my floor. There's a permanent chalk outline on the floor.. probably explains why this place is so cheap.

It's the least of my worries at the moment. Having a toddler in the house and having to take care of her alone is harder than I thought. I have a lot of respect for the people that do this for a living. I'm doing my best for her, she's my sister after all. Maybe I'm not really cut out for this. Between school and taking care of her, I've got no time.

I feel safe telling you this, but there's another reason I worry about whether I'm a suitable guardian. It was around the same time as my transition.. but I've found myself in a rather.. hairy situation? A toothy situation? And I can't help but fear the next full moon with her in the house. How are things in Strangerville? Still as weird as your last letter? Sorry about the long letter.. and all the photos, I'm excited to have someone my age to talk to that gets what it's like to be alone.
