I think people need to acknowledge more how 1 parent does not need to be exonerated of not allowing their kids' needs to be met simply because the other parent is "worse" or didn't try to be there, aka absent, for most of their life. Too much "I don't think [blank] is the parent we need to be mad at" and not enough "1 parent was absent and/or abusive, however the other also failed to meet their child's emotional needs, while putting entirely too much expectation on them (and therefore was neglectful at best/abusive at worst)"
