Summary: Lan Zhan hesitates, looking between them. He feels utterly lost on the meaning of the conversation. "What… do you mean?" "The marriage," his uncle urges impatiently. "Do you have a date, yet? I suppose all of your distant cousins will want to attend, so you'd better have one soon." Oh. Oh, no. Lan Zhan takes a deep breath and puts his chopsticks down. This is going to be a long explanation. (or: five times in which people wrongly assumed Lan Zhan and Wei Ying were married, and one time they were finally right) Kay's comments: Very cute 5+1 story where everyone assumes Lan Zhan and Wei Ying are already married, because they just seem so married! I loved how there weren't any painful misunderstandings/miscommunications between Wangxian in this story and I loved A-Yuan's POV at the very cute. Incredibly cute and wholesome. Excerpt: "Thank you, A-Xian," his sister beams, and then her attention is quickly averted towards A-Yuan, who's being held on Lan Zhan's hip. Wei Ying can't even feel offended at holding her attention for such a short moment - that's just A-Yuan's effect. He totally gets it. "Lan Wangji, it's nice to see you again. And A-Yuan! Don't you look so handsome today! Do you want to come and see your cousin?" At the mention of his little cousin Jin Ling, A-Yuan visibly perks up, and nods shyly. Lan Zhan lets him down, as soon enough they watch as Jiang Yanli leads him away, certainly towards where she's sitting with her husband. Wei Ying turns to look at Aunt Yu as he takes Lan Zhan's arm when it's offered to him. She's looking at them with a weird expression, almost like she's… pleased for some reason? It's not a look Wei Ying has seen often in her face over the years. "I'm glad to see you've finally taken responsibility," it's what comes out of her mouth after a few more seconds of awkward silence. She's looking directly at Lan Zhan when she says it, which makes it even more confusing.
