THINGS WE FVCK WITH : CROSS PROCESSING
Cross Processing is an old trick where you develop film in an alternative chemical solution that is formulated for another film type ie. processing slide film (e6) in negative film chemicals (c41). Usually, it provides a unique look with plenty of unpredictable elements making it a bit nerve racking but worthwhile in most cases.
The above photos of Stephan, Seb and Deigo were shot on an old broken Yashica T4 with Fuji Color Slide film and developed at the local 1-hr (C41) lab.

MEET YOUR MAKER : STEPHAN AUGUST 1. Name, age, where you live, how’s the weather outside?
Stephan August, 23 years old, living in Long Beach Ca. it’s fvxkn nice out.
2. SD or HD?
Both are svxk just depends really, I’m more fond of SD though.
3. Favorite bmx and non-bmx video?
Fvxk man, I’d say Reed’s Arizona video, and Magenta old whoops new grooves.
4. What is your all time favorite video camera?
Sony vx1000. It may be trash to some, but it’s a special piece of film history.
5. You’ve’ predominately worked on videos that have been for online consumption in the past, was working on a DVD any different?
Not really, if anything it’s was just a longer process. I always make things because I want to. So if it comes out on a dvd, youtube, vimeo, or is just a folder on my desk top no one will ever see, it’s all goodie.
6. How long did you guys film for the Midnight Creatures DVD and how many tapes did you end up filling?
Uhhhhhhh it was about a month and a few weeks. We went through 21 tapes lul.
7. Why film the video at night?
Rich and I are really into this band Lebanon Hanover. We were listening to them on the way to a spot then this one joint that slaps extra hard came on called “Midnight Creature” and Rich said “How cool would it be to do a video all at night to this song?” I was sold, and we started at it.
8. Are you inspired more by bike/skate vids or movies?
Honestly, I find inspiration in a lot of things. Whether it be scootering, skating, high fashion, flowers, comedy, films, etc. It’s beautiful to see life and people interpretations of it.
9. On that note, what’s your favorite movie currently?
Dude mid 90’s really made me feel some type of way. They did an amazing job.
10. What’s your process for picking music for videos?
Hmmmmm. It depends on the person, group, and vibe that was going on during filming.
11. What projects do you have lined up next?
Right now I got a few things going on. A new Yumi piece, Stranger project, Primo project, and a Hobie hitter along with a couple other Hourglass nugs.
You can follow Stephans personal The Hourglass Theory project here.
