Unpopular opinion that could possibly get one cancelled by the mmu fandom is that I actually like Stephen😥😥 used to hate him, but now im the same age as him and I kinda understand him.
Like imagine when you were around ten, your mother “takes up” with some other guy who steals all your valuables and essentially bankrupts you and it causes your dad to take his life? And then you and your mother are left all alone and poor? I think that whatever reaction you have to seeing that man again is kinda valid.
I also think that he didn’t want Bertie, who he probs viewed as being the love of his life, to go through the same thing he did. A part of what he did came from love for Bertie, and a need to protect him and Daisy from what he’d been through at such a young age, and how he was still dealing with that trauma and consequences to the day.
However, while Idc about Lady Hastings, the fact that he was willing to kill my queen aunt Lucy bc she suspected him is something I’ll never forgive. Also, he defo did traumatise Bertie and Daisy (especially Bertie cuz he had to deal with exactly what Daisy had to PLUS the most brutal breakup of all time).
Still, whenever I see someone hating on him I just think of the little boy who just lost his father, and the teenager (guys he was seventeen😔😔) who seemed out of place in Fallingford and just an outcast in Eton, being the poor boy with a dead Father. And then I think of the traumatised guy who will spend most of his life in jail, most likely missing Bertie and regretting destroying everything they had and hurting him. They’re so tragic I can’t😖😖.
I also think that after he offed Curtis he genuinely didn’t wanna hurt anyone else, he was just panicking trying to get away with what he did and ended up attempting to murder someone else and almost letting an innocent person take the blame for what he did. I will admit that there has to also be badness in him if he managed to achieve all that.
AFT memes because I've just read and it's sooooo much worse than I remember
i have an idea for a depressing bertie/stephen animatic and i have a may and hazel sibling angst animatic in the works
ha the angst is brewing
Manifesting this rn
Bertie, to Stephen: This song is dedicated to you
Bertie: *whacks Stephen in the face with ukulele*
Stephen: Help me! Bertie: I'm not helping you. Stephen: Why not? Is this because I once betrayed you? Bertie: Yes! It was our last interaction!
Hobbies include coming up with AFT AUs every other day
Modern au where Bertie is the older brother by like. 15 years. He + Stephen are married/together and Daisy lives with them (she's still 13) and has to accuse Stephen, who she's practically known and trusted her whole life, of being a murderer
AU where Bertie + Stephen and Daisy's ages are swapped and she finds out Stephen is the murderer. She had seen him come every other hols and Bertie had written about his best friend excitedly in his letters and she felt some sort of sisterly instinct towards him just like she did Bertie. She's heartbroken to find out it was Stephen
AU where things still happen largely the same, but Bertie knew what Stephen had done. The 2 halves of him juggle with understanding how Stephen must be feeling + wanting to keep him safe, and knowing that you can't just go around murdering people
