It’s 2019, and I’ve been running this blog for months now. There’s no excuse y’all.
If ya wanna read up on Steph’s time as Robin, most of those issues are collected in the Batman: War Games trade. Duke’s the star of We Are Robin and Batman & the Signal, both of which are relatively quick reads and he’s amazing. Plz I’m 🅱️egging y’all to expand ur horizons beyond the same 4 batboys. Batman has a minimum of 6 kids legally & 8 total (emotionally) at any given time. ASK QUESTIONS if u honest to god have no clue abt them. It’s what I’m here for.
I posted this pic like an hour ago and @dyketectivecomics caught on asap lmao

Raven felt her girlfriend’s aura while she was still shadowing her mentor; in fact, she had been with a patient, her hand on the middle of his back as she listened to his breathing when the unmistakable warmth of Steph’s emotions flowed over her. Years of crimefighting and living with the Titans paid off as the mystic was able to somehow keep a straight face, the twitch of her calm smile imperceptible to the patient and the doctor with her.
Gray eyes fought the urge to look up as Steph’s emotions roiled through the floor directly above her, the impatient Bat obviously trying to figure out where Raven was. Normally the retired hero would be on the next floor up, finishing some paperwork and going over her coursework as she prepared for the end of the day’s rounds. But this time she was with her mentor, practicing her bedside manners on the floors that only allowed for family members to visit; something that Steph would know had she texted her instead of breaking into the hospital.
Raven bit back a smile as she mimicked the way her mentor set about checking the patient’s vitals, deciding to let her favorite Bat flounder for just a little while longer.

Despite being in the center of Gotham, large swatches of shadows weren’t common within the hospital unless one was in a supply closet. But there were still slivers of darkness here and there, hidden underneath a desk or below a counter, shadows lurked within the cabinets and between the metal and fabric of the hazardous waste baskets. Those shadows bore witness as a purple blur sped along the tiled hallways, boots not making a sound or leaving a scuff as Spoiler made her way to the small closet where Raven usually spent the start of her lunch breaks meditating.
The fluorescent lights above her flickered, the pale light dimming a few shades as the hospital’s shadows slid around the vigilante, cloaking the parts of her face that her hood didn’t. Spoiler tensed at the sudden invasion for only a moment, her shoulders relaxing at the hum of energy as a portal opened up behind her.
A wide, lazy grin split the hero’s lips as she turned around, sheepishly meeting her girlfriend’s gaze. Raven let out a snorting sort of sigh, the shadows breaking into slivers and receding back to their rightful places in the cracks along the furniture’s undersides, “You do know you’re not supposed to be here until after my shift, right?”
Even as her words lightly admonished the Bat’s intrusion, Raven opened her arms for the blonde to fall into. They both sighed as they met for a much-needed hug, one preparing for a night of crime-fighting and the other preparing for a night of decompressing.
Steph raised her face to look into her love’s dark eyes, leaning in as she whispered, “But I missed you.”
“I know--” Raven let out a gasp as her words were abruptly cut off, an impossibly quick peck melting her heart. The mage was going to try to say something else when she was interrupted again, her “I missed you too” stifled by the wonderful press of Steph’s lips against her own. Wrapping her arms around the blonde, the two fell into each other. Steph took the lead as she put her hands along the swell of Raven’s hips, urging her purple-haired love backwards.
A pen clattered noisily on the floor as the doctor-to-be bumped against the counter and the couple broke their kiss for half a second.
Despite her better judgment (since she was still on-shift in her goddamned residency; now was not the time to be making out in the hallways like overeager teens), Raven surged forward to kiss her girlfriend again.
She let out a sigh as Steph easily picked her up at her thighs, setting her down on the edge of the counter. Idly making a note to clean up before she returned to her rounds, Raven allowed herself a moment of relaxation, sinking deeper into their kiss. A gloved hand came to rest over her waist and Raven felt some of the stress of the day slip away with each embrace. The muted pain and sorrow that haunted hospitals was all too common of a feeling for the empath, but she could feel her mood brighten the longer her girlfriend’s emotions slid against her own.
A deep, happy hum formed in the bottom of the mystic’s chest as Spoiler stepped up in the space between her legs, lightly nudging her until her back touched the wall. Pale hands came up to rest on those wonderfully toned, cloaked shoulders, fiddling with the ends of Steph’s hair as the blonde reached up to cradle her jaw.
Raven broke the kiss, letting out a ghost of a chuckle as she tried to catch her breath. Still a bit too flustered for her usual standards for accuracy, she felt the muted emotions of patients and guess that the medical staff was merely a few doors away. Knowing that they only had another minute until someone came walking around the corner, Raven nudged her girlfriend’s nose with her own.
“We’re going to get caught if we keep this up,” The empath whispered.
Steph smiled as she rested their foreheads together, not bothering to open her eyes just yet, “Maybe.”
