“Ugh, I can’t believe you dragged us all the way out here just for the meeting after last night,” Stiles complains with a groan. He leans his forehead against Derek’s shoulder and wraps his arms around him as if that’ll prompt him to carry him through the forest like a baby koala.
Derek, like the meanie he is, just laughs lightly and pats Stiles’ back.
“And don’t dare start with any more seize the beautiful day bullshit because this oh so precious sun of yours is killing my soul right through my eyes,” Stiles adds.
“It’s early afternoon, Stilinski. Not early hours of the morning. Quit being so whiney.”
“Shut up, Jackson. I barely got a wink of sleep all night. I’m allowed to be whiney,” Stiles says as he dislodges himself from Derek to glare at the other werewolf.
“Too busy doing other stuff?” Erica jumps in, waggling her eyebrows like she’s performing some kind of show.
“Yes, we were too busy gazing upon the heavens and the breathtaking marvels of the universe!”
“Mhm, I’m sure that’s what took your breath away,” Erica says.
“It wasn’t like that!”
“There was a meteor shower,” Derek jumps in with a rescue.
“Very romantic,” Erica swoons. “And super sexy.”
“Oh my god.” Stiles is too tired for this. He looks over at his boyfriend helplessly and Derek shrugs. Then, places a gentle kiss to Stiles’ forehead.
“Let them believe what they want,” Derek says simple and takes Stiles hand. He gives it a squeeze as they continue their trek out to a clearing further away from town for some werewolf training.
Stiles smiles. He doesn’t need to hear the words from Derek again to feel something in him settle. They had talked about this extensively between the two of them, and no matter what anyone else thought, they’re good. Derek loves him, quirks and dozens of shaded purple shirts, sexlessness and all. They’ve grown to such a sturdy couple, Stiles could barely believe it. He’d never have imagined something like this back when he first considered he might be on the asexual spectrum.
But here he is, and he couldn’t be happier.

“Did you hear about venus?” Stiles said as he curled up against Derek.
“What am I meant to have heard about venus?”
“They found chemicals that might suggest the presence of microscopic alien life having been there.”
“That’s...wow. That’s pretty incredible.”
“I know.” Stiles stared at the ceiling of Derek’s bedroom, following an intricate crack for awhile and feeling particularly small in his place in the universe.
He could hear Derek’s heart pumping against his ear, feel his warmth beneath his cheek as he turned to his side. Everything seemed to move slowly as Derek’s breaths drew slower with growing sleep, and Stiles closed his eyes and soon joined him.
