The Syndicate: Lovingly written interpersonal drama about what happens when working class people win millions of pounds, how it affects their relationships, and shows who they truly are. Great actors, great emotions. He’s a real sweetheart in this one, and his tears will break your heart. Most closely resembles Deadwater Fell, complete with non-chronological storytelling where new points of view reveal more detail.
The Musketeers: Adventure, action, sword-fights, drama. Great production value. Would you like to see Matthew as an totally unrepentant villain, both cunning and badass? Here it is, and I love it.
Misfits: Superpower shenanigans. Time travel, zombies, bodyswaps, alternate timelines, a wide variety of superpowers. My personal introduction to Matthew a decade ago, still my favourite, despite flaws. (But I’d definitely recommend looking up some trigger warnings for it.)
The Paradise: My personal favourite of the many period dramas he’s done overall, set in late 1800s department store. He’s the manager, dependable and moral and sweet and awkward, and the camera loves him in his fancy suits.
The Terror: Supernatural horror in 1800s Royal Navy polar exploration, and some quality drama. The sideburns are out of this world, but it’s actually got a fandom here on tumblr, so if you’d like to actually have fan interaction, go for this.
