Hello my fellow Bookdragons 🐉! I hope this past weekend & Monday have treated you all well. Sorry about there being no post on Friday, some stuff came up and in the end all I could do was crash and not resurrect until the next morning. . So, over the weekend I finished the Alchemist it deserves 🌟🌟🌟🌟. The idea of following our hearts "Personal Legends" was definitely one that Paulo explored quite well. My main complaint was that Santiago returned to the starting point. I know he had to go on a journey to learn of the world and whatnot, I just feel like there could have been a bit more to it? IDK, but overall I enjoyed the story. . Once finished with the Alchemist I went ahead and devoured The Perks of Being a Wallflower. 🌟🌟🌟🌟. Has anyone seen the movie? Me neither (for those who answer no). The book was good to get done in a day I just don't know if I should have. For such a short read it was actually quite heavy. I definitely needed some sleep after reading it. Again, I overall enjoyed the book and got emotional in a few places. (I'm trying to be good and not spoil it for those who have not read it) . I didn't know it was possible to hate with such an absolute passion and yet fall so deeply in love with a book. The Perks of Being a Wallflower, written by Steven Chbosky, depicts the life of a unique fifteen-year-old boy by the name of Charlie, who narrates his story through his hand-written letters to an unknown recipient. Charlie, who has a "wallflower" type personality, is anxious about the upcoming school year. His only friend, Michael, had recently committed suicide. Charlie approaches the school year with a delicate and intriguing sense of neutrality, always observing the people around him but never judging. His entire life changes when he meets Patrick, an eccentric boy who is secretly dating a popular boy on the school's senior football team. Charlie questions everything around him with a simple yet powerful child-like ability. Once he begins to make friends, he is riddled with snippets of memories of his aunt, whom he loved beyond measure despite her molesting him. These memories and his feelings of confused fondness for his aunt are brought to light as he finds himself displaying the same affection for his new found friends. The Perks Of Being a Wallflower emphasizes the importance one's teenage years and provides a window into the mind of young adults. Charlie tells his story with an unfiltered clarity and honesty that is hard to come by.
