There’s a knock on the door. Steve pulls away from Pepper long enough just to yell “We’re busy!” before reeling her back in for another kiss, curling his fingers at the nape of her neck. His tongue flits out, tracing the edges of her lips, silently asking for permission and - 

There’s another knock on the door. Pepper pulls back just enough to raise a questioning eyebrow at Steve, but Steve just shakes his head, mumbling a “They’ll go away eventually” against her lips. 

When they hear the third knock, Pepper falls back against the couch completely, and says, “I think you should answer that,” with a smirk. Sighing, Steve disentangles himself from her. 

“You’d think they’d get the hint,” he says as he reaches for the doorknob; and he’s barely twisted it open when Tony walks in with a flourish - face flushed and hands out in exasperation. 

Steve blinks, and Pepper surreptitiously adjusts herself on the couch. Neither of them were expecting Tony, but Tony’s obviously too flustered to notice because, he doesn’t even blink - just starts talking.

“She doesn’t want to go trick or treating with me. I’ve got the cape ironed out and placed precariously on the bed, cleared out my whole evening and she comes in like 30 minutes ago and says “Appa can I go trick or treating with my friends this year” - what am I, chopped meat?” 

At some point, Tony’s made his way over to the couch, and Pepper drapes an arm around him comfortingly while Steve tries to understand how his night took that big of a turn. 

“Hi hello nice to see you too,” Steve says, grabbing the candy bowl and holding it out for him, “Do you want candy?”

Tony looks up from where his head is buried in Pepper’s shoulder to send him a baleful look, “Do I want candy? No I don’t want candy Steve I want a fucking drink, can I get a drink?”

“I thought you didn’t drink,” Steve says with a frown, the hand with the candy still outstretched, “Isn’t it a religious thing?”

“No Steve that’s Muslims I’m Hindu,” Tony casts him one final glare before turning back to Pepper, and without anything to do - Steve makes his way over to the kitchen to grab a couple beers from the fridge. He’s just about to grab two bottles when his phone vibrates against his thigh, so he pulls it out to check who’s texting him.

Steve shoots off a quick reply and then shuts the fridge door with a sigh; wondering how he’s gonna break it to Tony. When he walks back into the living room, Tony has adjusted so that he’s half on top of Pepper, and she’s got her fingers running through his hair. 

“ - and it’s like, is this what my life is going to be like? You know what this is all my fault, it is, with all the times I’ve dropped something for Avenging I’ve taught my only daughter that being flakey is acceptable. I mean she’s only ten and I’m already losing her!” Tony says with a tone of anguish. 

“if you think you’re losing her now, imagine what it’s going to be like in highschool,” Pepper leans in to whisper conspiratorially, “she’s gonna be dating.”

“Are you -” Tony splutters,  “Is this supposed to make me feel better? Is that what you’re trying to do? Because its not working.”

“I need -” Tony looks around, finally landing on Steve from where he’s watching the two of them with a soft smile, “my booze Steve where’s my booze?” 

Steve lifts his phone in response, “You can’t drink. We just caught a big up - Fury wants us all in.” 

“Great, now I can’t even pick Morgan up from her sleepover. I get precious times with my daughter Steven, precious times, and this stupid job you’ve signed me up for is digging into that,” Tony leans over to press a kiss to the corner of Pepper’s mouth, “Will you?”

She nods with a soft smile, “I’ll pick up our daughter Tony. Go save the universe.”

“Fucking ridiculous,” Tony mutters, and walks out in very much the same manner he came in, with flourish. Steve hangs back an extra response to press his lips to Pepper’s forehead in apology; before leaning over to grab his Shield from behind the sofa. When he walks out, Tony’s already by the car, boot popped open so that he can grab his briefcase suit. 

“We know what this is about?” he asks as he sets in on the ground, and Steve waits until the armour has fully encased him to walk over - pressing his foot against the metal shoes. 

“Nope,” he says, adjusting so that he can grip on tight, “just that it’s urgent.”

Tony hmms his response, and pushes off the ground; one arm curling around Steve’s waist for support. They’re in the air for about five minutes from Tony’s faceplate snaps back and he turns to Steve to ask, “Were you kissing my wife just now?”

Steve smirks, “Why you jealous?”

“I might be,” Tony huffs and Steve lets his smirk stretch into a full grin, “Of me or her?”

“Is both an appropriate answer?”

Steve presses a kiss onto Tony’s cheeks, absurdly happy about the way it elicits a blush, “just get us to the Helicarrier Shellhead, and I’ll give you all the kisses you want.”

“Aye aye Cap’n.”

ok so consider: 

pepper has a sweet tooth, but neither tony or her can bake. she can cook a little bit and in the more than ten years she and tony had been together, she has managed to teach him a little bit. but they can’t bake anything

so steve learns how to bake! he takes a baking class in the small town close to the lake house. he then teaches morgan how to do cookies, and they recieve tony and pepper with awesome iron man an rescue themed cookies.

“Morgan, we’re going to be late, hon. You can finish the episode in the car.”

“You can finish it in the car sweetie. I’ll bring your tablet so you can. C’mon munchkin.” Steve grabbed her backpack and lunch for her and grabbed the car keys.

“The car’s unlocked hon, go ahead and get in.” Steve walked back into the kitchen where Tony had come back in and was eating cereal with Peter and Pepper.

“Bye, you guys, I’ll see you later today!” He kissed Tony and Pepper both on the forehead, ruffling Peter’s hair affectionately. He grabbed the reusable grocery bags on his way out.
