Stranger Things 5 Rewrite Fic Poll

I know I’ve been posting a lot about ships today, for those of you who don’t care who Nancy ends up with I swear we’ll get back to the plot soon. I just want to figure out where her story will go (along with Robin, Jonathan, Steve, and Vickie) so, please read more on each ship combo below the poll before casting your vote!

Stancy + Rockie

(After a mutual Jancy breakup) Steve and Nancy will finally have a conversation about not only his confession in S4 but her blaming him for Barb’s death in S2 and the root of that being that she really blames herself, with Steve being the first person to ever tell her it wasn’t her fault and she deserves to be happy. I’m thinking they may even be together on watch when Holly disappears with Steve being there to comfort her when it happens but leading to her lashing out about both Holly and Barb. Most likely planting seeds for them to get back together in the epilogue rather than rushing from Jancy to Stancy, with epilogue Steve working odd jobs to pay their rent in Boston while Nancy’s in college and eventually becoming a stay at home dad when her career takes off, their small family (only two kids) going on roadtrips when she can get time off, maybe even starting a summer road trip tradition before they get married with Dustin, Mike, El, Lucas, Max, and Will when their original kids are in college. Rockie will be in early stages of development with parallels to Bychance

Jancy + Rockie

Either Jonathan and Nancy have a conversation about their real issues (I’m talking the struggle olympics of dealing with misogyny vs poverty and of course Jonathan’s creepy pictures in S1 not just Nancy not liking the Clash) and they find a new understanding of each other and Jonathan takes accountability for that weird shit and come back stronger than ever OR in that conversation they do break up like in canon, going their separate ways in college and rekindling later in life once they’ve both had the chance to go out and explore the world and follow their dreams without being held back and figure out what they want in life, ultimately realizing that they want each other. I like either of these options, but if Jancy doesn’t breakup I’m thinking rather than either of them sacrificing their dreams for the other Nancy’s change: the exposé on the government fast launches her career giving her opportunities she never would have had straight out of high school as an ordinary teenage girl. She would either get a big job in investigative journalism or get a great internship offer that requires her to attend school in New York (whether that’s NYU with Jonathan or another school like maybe Columbia, though I think they would love being the photographer and editor of NYU’s school paper) Jonathan would finally get to go to NYU and Nancy would get to do what she really wants to without worrying about being questioned or dismissed as a woman her whole life (Nancy’s “dream school” isn’t even mentioned until S4, but Jonathan has wanted to go to NYU since he was 6 years old. I honestly don’t think Nancy would feel like she missed out on Emerson if she got a better opportunity) *Rockie is basically the same regardless of whether its Jancy or Stancy tbh

Ronance + Stickie

Honestly I had never even considered Stickie as an option until @twohumansinatrenchcoat mentioned it in the comments of one of my Ronance Debate posts, but I actually kind of like the idea of Bi Nancy and Bi Vickie both struggling with not knowing both is actually an option mostly due to not knowing what bisexuality is. This combo revolves around Robin and Steve kinda accidentally stealing each other’s love interest. In any case of Ronance, I’m thinking Nancy and Robin are both clueless to their own feelings, Nancy because she doesn’t think girls are an option and Robin because she doesn’t view the ‘straight’ girl her best friend is in love with as an option. In the case of Stickie, Vickie will have been pulling away from Robin because after her shitty boyfriend in S4 and falling for Robin she thought she was a lesbian, but now after meeting Robin’s best friend Steve there’s no denying she’s attracted to men and she’s terribly confused (Steve and Robin causing bi panic everywhere they go, as any straight man x lesbian friendship should) ultimately, they both learn to accept themselves for their bisexuality, with Nancy finding happiness with Robin and Vickie with Steve, showing positive bi rep all around, even for the bi girlies with boyfriends in Stickie. (In this case, I may even write Chance to be bi, as another perspective on that struggle, with his religious background making his queerness almost painfully apparent to him which is very confusing when he has had girlfriends [before S4] that he thinks he really liked due again to limited or rather nonexistent knowledge on bisexuality)

Ronance + Stonathan

Okay real talk, I always kinda viewed Stonathan as a crack ship, but I had this idea of Will absolutely bodying Chance in a Hellfire/Hunters fight, Chance turning on the other Hunters almost immediately after, with a parallel to S1 Stonathan and Tommy H’s line like Andy saying “You just got your ass kicked by Will Byers but you think you can take us?” which I posted with a joke poll but a lot of people actually voted for Stonathan endgame, so I’m not opposed, and I think the mlm enemies to lovers parallels could be so great though I don’t have a ton of ideas for Stonathan get together yet (so genuine Stonanthan shippers please leave your ideas in the comments) but I think if the Bychance fistfight happens, like Steve Chance may go to apologize to Will, Mike, Lucas, and Dustin and discover the party isn’t just innocent but actively fighting to stop those truly responsible for the destruction in Hawkins, but I think he kind of has to realize they aren’t murderers first (that could be as simple as like “okay Andy if Dustin made a deal with the devil why didn’t he just kill you when you broke his nose?” or something) though I was leaning more toward Chance joining the party because they help him when the demos overrun Hawkins while his friends flee or even just Andy wanting to kill the Hellfire boys when Chance just thought they were turning them in and maybe a past friendship with Lucas swaying him to turn on the Hunters. *Ronance would be basically the same as in Just Ronance but with Stonathan realizing through them that gay is an option lol

Just Ronance

With just Ronance (or any Ronance) I see them being oblivious to their own feelings for the reasons I discussed under Ronance + Stickie, and Steve being the one to help Robin realize her feelings for Nancy (with Bi Nancy, I love the idea of Steve saying he knows she feels the same about Robin because there was a time when she looked at him that way) and encourages her to go for it so Robin can get past the guilt of falling for the girl he’s in love with. I could see a mutual Jancy breakup starting as an argument over Steve and ending in Nancy confessing she really has feelings for Robin (idk that he would react like drugged Steve, but I do lowkey like the idea of Jonathan saying “But Robin’s a girl?”) but I think in that case Nancy has to go through something that makes her realize her attraction to Robin goes beyond admiration and friendship since I see that being both their rationalization for their feelings. I’ve been considering Nancy being the one to see Rockie’s kiss instead of Will and that being her moment of realization because she was jealous then and when she thought Robin and Steve were together. This could also work with both her and Will witnessing it together and running in separate directions for obviously different but similar reasons, though Will & Rockie perceive Nancy as angry or disgusted when she’s just jealous and flustered, adding to all of their own internal struggles (maybe even leading to Vickie breaking up with Robin for fear of being outed.) but I also like the idea of Will seeing Ronance kiss instead and either Jancy not having broken up yet or Will not knowing they did, like the panic of not just anybody finding out they’re queer but Jonathan specifically finding out Nancy cheated on him from his little brother, leading to Robin talking to Will and Nancy talking to Jonathan. But, if I go with any of the Ronance combos, I will post more of the specifics of them getting together later.

I just got caught up on apothecary diaries this past weekend (I'll wait a couple weeks and then binge 3 episodes). Season 2 is stellar! Ya know how sometimes the first season is great but season 2 sucks in my humble opinion that is not apothecary diaries case.

Okay, so, like Steve was choked out in season 4, but so were Robin, Nancy, and Eddie. . .so, wouldn't they all have the scars around the neck? I mean, I've only ever seen Steve being drawn with the scar. Wouldn't all four have it? Also, Nancy, at one point, had a bat on her back. What if she had a bite and didn't tell anyone? Also, the same is true with Robin. What if all four are connected by these scars and by these bites? Of course, Robin is still being platonic with both Eddie and Steve, but there's something there with Nancy. Nancy and Steve still have something that they can't let go of, but they also like Eddie and Robin. Robin and Eddie like them. Of course, with the fact that their minds were connected, it was hard to hide their attraction. Maybe later in season 5, Vickie gets bitten, her mind joining their collective. Just because I love the idea of Robin, Vickie, and Nancy. Things do get a little tense until they figure out how to block each other, but I do like the idea that they make chirping noises when they communicate. Just some thoughts I wanted to share.
