We all know it. We all do it even if it is subconscious. We stigmatize people. Even though we know how it feels, it often doesn’t stop us. We have various victims: single moms and dads, people without a college degree, people with psychological issues, people from poor cities/countries, refugees, girls who like to wear revealing clothing and so on...Why do we do that? Why is the human ego prone to put people and their lifestyles into boxes of good and bad? I often catch myself thinking things like “Omg why is she really wearing that? That’s so tacky! She definetly isn’t an intelligent person otherwise she wouldn’t run around in clothes like these.” and a few moments later I am shocked for thinking this way. I don’t think it’s okay. A lot of my friends talk badly about their friends and their lifestyles and how they would manage things a lot better. When someone from my friends suffers from a depression or break-up they immediately “want attention”, “are whiny” or “over exaggerate”. Have we lost our ability to try to understand people and feel empathy and just be there for one another without any judgment? Maybe. I’m not saying I am perfect but at least I can say that I am trying my best not to be an asshole. What about you?
